Bedroom Update/Opinion for drapes/headboard

Hi there,

I finally received the mirror tables I had ordered for my bedroomÂI really like them. They add a little brightness rather than another dark piece of furniture.

Note:Walls are now all creamy colour-the brown wall in 1 pic below has been re-painted.

Still have a few decisions to make & would love some inputÂ

1) Which drapes would you go with? The brown velvet or the blue silk?

2) Was going to wallpaper on 1 wall behind headboard, but decided not to go that way.

Would you do wall panelling (thin mouldings) or would it look too busy?

3)Last questionÂI have a few duvet covers. 1) Duvet that matches the brown & white cushion on the chair. I would fold at bottom instead of faux fur for the spring/summer (duvet not shown-but identical pattern to brown & white cushion). 2) Bedding as you now see in these pics (ivory duvet + fur at bottom) and last set 3) the blue, brown & white shown with brown fabric thrown over the headboard.

As I like to change bedding looks, what is the best fabric /colour for the headboard? ?

The beige that it is now is kind of a strange beige-looks pinky in the pictures. Should I have headboard reupholstered in brown velvetÂor ivory fabric or even a white twill? I canÂt decide!!

(Maybe brown and then have a Âslipcover made in white twill for summer??)I just can't seem to figure out what is the best route to go... Brown might be best-but I do love ivory & white.

Thanks for any guidance:)

L.

I think the blue drapes are vastly better than the brown onesf, they lift the whole feeling of the room while the brown drags it down and is too dark for the walls. I would opt for the ivory headboard since you have so many color options with it. I think brown has been so popular that its heyday may soon be past and I wouldn't limit myself to a color that you can't use with too many other colors.

I do like the blue drapes a lot. Maybe you could do the brown velvet in the winter.
I adore the mirrored tables!! I have a mirrored cabinet that I really love too.

    Your bedroom looks great.

Headboard: I do think ivory or white would be great on the headboard. I think you can do something really beautiful with brown accents.

Curtains: I can't decide because the blue actually look lilac on my monitor. I do know that I don't love the brown velvet. They look a little too Pottery Barn.

Your room is very pretty and glamorous! I would definitely go with the lighter drape; just don't care for a dark drape against such light walls, and you have blinds, which already do their share of room-darkening. If you love ivory and cream and white, IMO you should use them; they'll make you happy! Be sure to repeat the blue color and also use some brown or rich tan to warm up the space.

Very pretty room. Love the new tables. May I ask where you bought them? That question for you also, threegrad, about your table.

Normally I would say the blue, but for some reason the blue is not going with that wall color. I don't know if it's the blue is not the right blue or what. I love blue, cream and brown, but those curtains don't seem to go with the wall color. It's difficult looking at things through the monitor when they all distort color so badly.

The brown curtains actually look better to me against those walls. I'm also thinking a brown headboard and again, because of the wall color. Then I'd go with blue and cream in accessories.

Very nice room, you've got an elegant sophisticated look going on. As for the curtains, I actually like them both, but I think the blue silk have more of the beautful bedroomy feel to them than the brown do.

And as to wall paneling- I do think it would add a busyness to the room, that would fight against the calm streamlined look you have now. Not that it would look bad, I just don't think it would really add a lot.

If you picked the blue silk curtains, would you consider doing your headboard in a compatible soft blue color? I think it would look very lovely with your mirrored tables.

And for the bedding- I like the bedding you have in the first picture. I don't think your room speaks for strong geometrical designs. And I think the different textural feel of the faux fur, and the soft stripes of the duvet look very nice.

    i love the blue silk.

if you still have blue silk fabric..?? use it on the headboard and leave the wall alone..the problem is not the wall but the headboard isn't a good fit colorwise.

I like the blue drapes too. I likes the suggestion of a pale blue headboard.

Great rm. Really, very, very pretty!

I purchased my mirrored chest at homedecorators.com. I don't think they have the same one today. Also Horchow has mirredred furniture although the price is much higher but the quality may be better.

Thanks all for the feedback. I like the blue drapes also...but my husband prefers the brown as they keep the am sunlight out on the weekends. Maybe I can add more lining to the blue drapes (they are lines, but could add black-out lining)

I purchased the mirror tables at a furniture store here in Toronto (GH Johnsons) Threedgrad-love your mirrored chest too:)

I will definitely be changing the fabric on the headboard. As much as I like idea of soft blue, will likely go with a neutral off-white. Now...to decide! Exact colour...type of fabric (twill/silk/velvet???)

    Thanks again everyone!

    Beautiful bedroom!

Are the lighter drapes with a band at the hem blue? On my computer monitor they look taupe(!). Assuming those are the blue, I vote for them.
