Should I keep same accent color thoughout house?

I love the accent color of apple green, especially with dark wood furniture. I have used this accent color in my kitchen and adjoining family room. I have a bowl of green apples, apple green candles, green vase, green throw pillows on my brown couch, etc.

I wondered if it would be overkill to use this same accent color in our bedroom. We have a beige comforter and I would love to add throw pillows, accent towels, etc in apple green. I noticed that some model homes carry one color thoughout the home. I just don't want to let my lack of creativity make my home boring.

Well, try moving some of the green pieces into the bedroom and see how it looks. In general, though, no, I would not use the same accent color throughout the house.

If you're adding green just to the one bedroom you're not exactly using the color throughout the whole house. If you would love to use this color in the bedroom I would say do it. You need to please yourself more than anyone else in this. I've used terra cotta red in my dining room (walls and border of Persian carpet), living room (four pillows) and the master (curtain and bedspread) and, since the colors are used in different ways in each room and I've used other colors that are different in each room, it's not at all obvious what I've done, except that there's a feeling of harmony. Go for it if that's what you want!

Why don't you pair the apple green with an equally jazzy color in your bedroom.

You say that the comforter is beige, what about the wall color? If that is neutral, also, you really might want a third color, anyway.

Not overkill at all! If you love the color -- use it!

And -- as wisely stated above -- start by simply moving some of the green accents to the bedroom -- and see how it looks and feels to you!

Then check out the shops! Maybe a green glass accent lamp? Maybe some artworks featuring that color? How about a wall grid of black-and-white photos -- with bright green AND orange (or sunny yellow? or bright blue?) mats -- and then frame alike?

Go for it! Creativity is never boring! :)

Sure why not, you obviously love it. And it can be your signature color, I like the idea. It's like putting your mark on it. Some artists put a little something in their paintings that only they know about and others find out about.

I feel that way about black.

I've used 3 colors + black throughout our home. Because the colors are used in different amounts and on different surfaces the rooms aren't copy cat versions of each other but they "flow" together.
You like green? Sure, use it wherever you like.
