need help for furniture arrangement & also for decor theme to go with all chosen quilts set..
Comments (16)@anumaura....I see from your pictures and floor layouts that you have curtains and an area rug. The reason I say commit to one bed spread is because it will make for a more cohesive look in the bedroom. With one bedspread, you then choose a curtain fabric that ties in well, then you layer in an area rug, then you add the pillows and finally wall colour. They don't all have to be blue - they can have hints of blue or coordinate with blue. You can keep all 4 bedspreads and then try to coordinate the area rug, the curtains, pillows and wall colour. However this will make it difficult to shop for items that will look ok with "all" the bedspreads. From a design perspective, this is making it more difficult than it should be. You can absolutely go neutral - but you then might find that it's too bland. As for furniture layouts...keeping in mind there are no room or furniture dimensions, consider the following: -bed against the wall with 1 window, bedside table and lamp on each (creates balance) -didn't understand if computer stays in the room - if it does, consider purchasing a nice console table or writing desk & chair and position them at the entry (where you have seating area in your floor layouts) -if computer doesn't stay in room, you can create the seating area in that spot and add the armoire as the focal point -area rug will tie the seating area together -accessories come in last once the floor layout is complete. This will tell you want you need to add to and what needs to be left alone. Before you commit to anything, try the layout with what you have right now. Improvide with boxes for a desk/armoire. This will provide you with a good perspective on layout and traffic flow. Looking at some of your floor layouts, your clearances are tight in some areas. Best way is to always reposition physical furniture. As well, painter's tape on the floor works wonders when trying to decide if furniture will fit. Kalli...See MoreDo you have a quilt?
Comments (37)@jn3344, I also encourage you to go to a good quilt shop or the local quilt group/guild with your quilt. There may be some way to repair it or recycle salvageable parts. My hubby's maternal grandmother made him a quilt in high school; and by the time I seen it it had gone sideways, as in literally rotted to shreds. I was able to gather some of it and piece together ONE block, using replacement fabric to fill in the backing (it was sort of a wedding ring pattern done a strange way) and hand faked the zig zag stitch she'd used to applique the fabric strips that arced, down. It was a long time with a large embroidery hoop. Then built that into a 'bed foot' to go across the bottom few feet of the bed to look like a folded blanket, you remove it to sleep. His mother treasured that I had labored to save some of that quilt; he is happy to still have that quilt around. And I had done this before I started quilting... it just seemed something that had to be done......See MoreHow would you finish off a herringbone wall that doesn't go to ceiling
Comments (5)The issue, particularly with a shower is you don't want anyplace for the water to pool. By leaving a squared edge you encourage pooling. Your options to finish it off are the bullnose in one form or another. Alternatively, you can use a really ugly metal edge. Or try to find a tile with a bullnose edge the same size, color and design as the ones you selected....See Morewhat do you think needs to be added or subtracted from this bedroom?
Comments (78)as for size, i think you want to check the length and width of the room... i think you said you had 3 feet on each side of the bed, so I think thats around 11.4 feet, taking into account a queen size bed. an 8x10 would show more of the green border than a 9x12. that said, i think 9x12. for rug, I like the softer colors, I would eliminate the red in the room and go with softer colors in a rug. I would bring in the darker green of the carpet in pillows, along with softer and more muted greens and blush, so it all feels intentional....See Morechickie1
