Does anyone have a Viking Rockport with cantilever deck?

They installed the Stegmeier Capstone forms yesterday for our viking rockport fiberglass pool. From looking at the forms it looks like there isn't much of an overhang over the pool. Does anybody have a rockport with a cantilever edge that has a nice overhang. They said this pool has to many tight curves to get an edge with overhang.

I have the rockport with the cantilever edge, I wouldn;t say its a HUGE overhang but its what Id expect from a cantlilever edge. I can take a pic if ya want!

jimcufsem ---- Do you know the name of the forms that were used on yours? Also did they put a plastic piece on top of the fiberglass edge that also goes around the pool wall, the istaller called it a beauty ring. The cantilever edge is then poured on top of it but the piece on the pool wall will still be visible. My explanation is not very good but that ring around the pool looks like it will cheapen the look of the pool and deck. Thanks for your help.

Yes, they put a plastic trim piece above the pool lip and below the cement. It is colored to match the dyed concrete we used, so its not really noticeable. You can see it in this cropped pic. The forms were styrofoam, not sure of the name of them.

jimcufsem----------Thanks for the close up picture, that is the ring I'm talking about. Yours looks fine, I wish they would have used something other than white on ours. Our pool is also the Saphire blue like yours and the deck will be stamped and colored tan, I'm hoping the ring won't stand out and look bad. The forms have been on since Thursday we're just waiting for them to pour so they can get the pool completed.

    Hi Jetline,

If your ring really stands out, you could always put tile around the waterline (assuming you don't already have it) and cover the ring with the silicon that you use to "grout" the tiles

Thanks dpz1, I like your idea of adding tile and covering the ring that way. I'll see how much it stands out and then maybe use your idea.

I think if your deck is colored tan, I would insist on the colored ring to match....blue pool, white ting, tan deck, doesnt sound right....my builder also used the decko drains and the expansion joint fillers the same color to match the concrete....I would tell your guy to pull it up and redo it! Your paying all that money so I think a piece of colored plastic would be a no brainer with the builder, IMHO! GOod luck!

I'm asking this question in ignorance. We have a blue sapphire fiberglass pool with the same kind of decking (ours is plain concrete color) and we don't have that plastic ring. I think I'm glad, but what is it's purpose anyway? Our concrete meets up directly with the top of the pool.

    Hi Sharla

The installer told me that the ring covers any gap between the top edge of the fiberglass and the deck if there is any settling of the concrete. The ring supposedly moves with the deck to hide the gap. I have been looking through some fiberglass pool brochures and from what I can see it looks like some have it and others don't. I like the looks better without it, but I will go along with what the builder says and hope it turns out. The builder has done many pools and he said I'm the only one who has ever been concerned with the looks of the ring, so I'm hoping it won't be that big a deal. They are scheduled to pour the deck today. I really like your pool and decking, nice clean look.

Thanks, jetlane. Good luck with your pour! It finally seemed like a pool and not a mudhole to me after the deck was done. We have had a bit of a problem in a couple places with cracking and chunks falling off the edge of the deck. I wonder if the ring would've prevented that? Be sure and post pics!
