Only if it is a bi-fold door would I recommend putting them in the center of each door.

Don't center them -- I have double doors to my laundry and they put the knobs in the center. Slightly harder to open and we are much more likely to put our hands (and dirty fingerprints, etc.) on the doors than on the handles.

Thanks so much for your help and esp. to newhomebuilder for posting pictures. That is exactly where my installer wanted to place them, but I was a little hesitant. Now I have great visuals and very good reasons for listening to him!! I LOVE this forum!

I agree with canobeans! We had smaller double doors for my laundry room, and for some reason, door knobs were not installed on the inside of doors. I added small brass knobs to the center inside of the walk-in laundry room doors. Closing the doors was difficult with the knobs in the center.
