Feel so Out of It...but I'm back

I have been off-line for the past two weeks moving into my new house, and I feel so disconnected with this forum...but I am back.

It has been a tuff move to say the least...much more work than we had anticipated, but we have cleared the rental unit and are settling into our new home. There is still alot to be done. I am hoping that given another week, I can unpack and tackle my sewing room over the Memorial Day weekend, because I am having serious quilting withdrawals. I WANT TO SEW!

Over the next couple of days, as time permits, I will try to read through the posts that have appeared to catch up. I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has sent blocks so far for the breast cancer awareness project. I have received many, and they are still in their envelopes tucked away in my sewing room.

Hey Lynn, it will get better as time goes on! Congrats on the new house! I emailed you a while ago, but wasn't sure you got it. Could you please let me know your mailing address, I have a few blocks here...

    Hey Lynn! Welcome back.
I'm glad you mentioned the breast cancer awareness blocks. I thought maybe I was too late to send any. Oh, but didn't you say you would be accepting them all year? So, do you have a new address for us to send them to?
Did you move a long way from where you lived before? I can't remember if you gave any details on it.
I hope you get to sew real soon. I know how bad those withdrawal symptoms can be.:o)

    Lynn,
I was wondering how the move was going. I had my blocks done awhile back, put in a envelope with your new addy and a sticky note on top: to be mailed after May 7th. Glad the move is over for you - now the fun part of setting up a sewing space! Best of luck with it all. No pressure, but remember when it is done to post a pic or two!

Hey, Lynn! I was hoping we'd hear from you soon. I hope you get settled in and can work on that quilt withdrawal problem real soon!

Glad you are back Lynn, I sent you and email when I mailed the blocks but it bounced back at me. Have you changed your email when you moved? Colleen

    All

The move. I used to live about 12 miles north of the Minot Air Force Base which is about 8 miles north of the city of Minot. Now I live about 15 miles south of the Air Force Base in the city of Minot. You wouldn't think that a 25 mile trip (one way) would have that much affect on someone, but when my husband and I were spending several evenings a week in town due to meetings, the drive home became long. That coupled with the fact that we were tired of paying rent to someone else, and the decision to move was pretty easy.

In the past, the Air Force always moved us, so they packed up absolutely everything, loaded it onto the moving truck, unloaded it at the other end and I just had to unpack. This move, we had to do absolutely EVERYTHING and then make that 30 mile trip between the houses...several times. Then there was the tought of having to clean the rental unit...which I knew wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it still had to be done.

In the middle of our move, I had to make a trip out to Grand Forks (about 3 hours away) to move my daughter out of her dorm and into her apartment. We took a truck load of stuff out to Grand Forks with us, unloaded that, and then loaded yet another truck load from her dorm room. I am moved out.

The house is livable and my husband had been a god send. We have the remaining boxes either in the semi-finished basement or the garage, so the main living area is almost "normal." Because the new house has cathedral ceilings, the "little" pictures that I had just won't cut it, so pictures aren't up yet, but I'm not too worried about that. I haven't said anything to my husband about my sewing room, because he has been extremely stressed with the move and things at work are a night mare right now, but bless his heart, he got my sewing table set up tonight in my sewing room. I'm going to stick to my guns, however, and get the rest of the house done first, because I don't want any hurt feelings that I can play in my room but he can't play in his room (garage). I can make that sacrifice, especially seeing that I am off to a quilting class tomorrow afternoon.

I will post pictures of the house, sewing room and breast cancer quilts as things progress.

I wasn't able to access my e-mail or the garden web site for about two weeks. My e-mail account because saturated with mail and was over it's limit. I did receive your block(s) and message.

Hopefully I will be able to get a message out this weekend to everyone who has already sent blocks for the breast cancer awareness project.

I think 'short' moves are worse than long moves. And next year we'll be moving 30 miles away...I can just see us now, truckload after truck load. Eventually it will get done but it won't be fun (except for the fact I will have my own sewing/project room)....

Lynn, I have sent you a gift certificate from Hancock's of Paducah as my contribution toward Marie's memory quilt.

Hancock's said you were a customer but I gave them the address you sent me via e-mail. Please let me know when it arrives.

    Lynn,
Hope you are settled in and enjoying your home now. We are retired Navy and I guess they moved us about 12 times...I've never packed a dish or anything. My best friend (not military) has moved with her husband by themselves (her doing most of the packing) about 20 times. Obviously she doesn't have the number of geegaws I have around the house, but I don't think I could ever do it like you and she have done. We are thinking about moving from here and would have to "bite the bullet" and pay a mover.
Several weeks ago I sent you a birthday block. It was during the confusion of your move, I'm afraid, so I hope you received it....an appliqued kitty in blue 30s fabric.
Would you let me know? You can email me through my page on the forum. Thanks, Mollie
