Quality of woven wood shades

A FYI for anyone in the market...

Thirty years ago we hung Kirsch woven woods in the master bedroom. They're still functioning as good as the day they were installed.

Last year we hung Smith & Noble cordless woven woods in the kitchen/keeping room. Installation was a bit of a pain, but dh's engineering mind figured it out.

Today we hung cordless Levolor/Kirsch woven woods in dh's new office. What a difference between the S&N & Levolor!!! Like night and day ... the quality, weight, and cordless function. The S&N were about half the price, but like they say ... you get what you pay for.

Most woven woods these days comes from China. The quality is so poor. Installed a couple today, looked like they tried to mend a broken piece of material in the center of the shade. Stood out like a sore thumb. This is the norm. So it it very important to know who and where the product is made. Levolor seems like they are concerned about quality.

What doesn't come from China these days? On another website I've become friends with a woman in China. I wanted to send her dog a toy for Christmas so I looked for something at a pet store. Every single thing I picked up was made in China. I finally found some dog treats made in the US. Geez.
