A month later, we are done.....my inspiration picture is attached...a lot of the colors in the picture is not true to reality, especially the island but you will get a general idea. Thanks for everyone who helped!

    Congratulations!

I love your cookie sheet storage.

Great job! Your wood tones, both the richer ones on the cabinets and the lighter one on the island, are gorgeous and so complementary to each other and to the granite.

buzzy0, I'd love to see your pics of your new kitchen, but couldn't open them.....can you or someone post a thread?
    Thanks

Very pretty. I especially like your upholstered stools.

Very nice! buzzy0, how do like having your oven below the island's counter? I'm dabbling with layout and thought about such a configuration but couldn't decide if I'd like it or not (my wall oven is currently set up higher in a column).

phoggie, did you copy and paste the website addie to a new page and it didn't work? That's what I did and it worked just fine. Try the link below.

Beautiful!! I like your kitchen better than your inspiration photo. Your corbels are really pretty. Thank you for sharing. Do you mind posting a list of what you used. Like cabinet manufacturer, faucet, granite color, etc??

Lisa a, thanks for helping phoggie with the link and thanks for making the useful link. Could you tell me how you did that? Thanks!

It is 3 pages of picture, I wasn't sure if anyone would see that on photobucket.

I like having the oven in the island although I don't know any other way as it has always been. It used to be around the other side but wanted to see wood when you walk in from the laundry room. Now it is facing the sink. We have a finished kitchen in the basement and have wall oven there which is nice because you don't have to bend down but didn't want to loose the counterspace by having the wall oven in the main kitchen.

Beautiful!! Would you mind giving the dimensions of your kitchen? How wide is the aisle behind the island? We currently have a very similar set up and are deciding if we should do an island or a U.

Whoa! That is one gorgeous, goregeous kitchen! It has great form and function and what attention to details! I love your crown molding, enlay, and corbels. You've certainly packed a lot into a small space. Congratulations! I also like how you have a different granite on the island and the black appliances and sink. Everything goes together well and creates a very warm, cozy kitchen.

    Cheers,

    Karen

P.S. I hope my kitchen turns out as well as yours, then I'd be extremely happy.

I wanted to mention that I do not have any receptacles or switches (even the garbage disposal switch). Everything is under the cabinets (undercabinet lighting too)which I love because I rarely use them all anyway and it gave the tile a clean look.

I will work on the list of things I used and the measurements of the kitchen

Also, the pictures on photobucket is 3 pages long.

    Thanks and you're welcome, buzzy0.

All I did to make an active link was to use the blanks below the form for posting. Copy your link and paste it in the blank next to "Optional Link URL." Give it a name in the blank below that ("Name of the Link") and you're done.

It's a bit more complicated to post hyperlinks within the body of your text but it comes in handy if you have more than one link to post. Just follow the tips given in this thread (scroll down to Posting a Link):

    Hi Buzzy-
Beautiful...I agree with the previous poster that likes your kitchen even better than the inspiration!

Could you give the names of your granites?

    Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words everyone, I know the style isn't for everyone but appreciate it.

The dimension of the kitchen from is 15 feet from one end of the kitchen to the other and oddly enough 15 feet from the cooktop end to where my kitchen chairs start on my kitchen table.

It is 35 1/2 inches from granite to granite on the cooktop side and the sink side. Our granite center island is larger than typical for that space.

I used white birch, with Cherry stain and black glaze on the perimeter cabinets and clear glaze with a fudge bar glaze on the island.
It is raised panel, full overlay doors and drawer fronts all full extension soft close drawer guides and soft close drawers. Drawers are 5 piece. Framed cabinets
Moulding - White River crown molding
Granite - Black galaxy for island and Solarius for perimeter
Faucet - Kohler Vinnata with matching soap dispenser in ORB
Hot Water Dispenser - Insinkerator ORB
    Under and Overcabinet lighting Kichler
Receptacles - all under cabinet- bar strips that hide under cabinets

Tile - 6 inch Emil America series Petra Etrosca in Dorato color and the Torello to box out above cooktop
Grout - Laticrete in 1239 Mushroom

If I am missing anything let me know!! Thanks

It is Amerock (all pulls, no knobs) AMBP 1302-ORB (good match with Kohler ORB)

This hopefully is the last, it is a picture of the undercabinet Kichler lighting, the receptacles and the garbage disposal switch (doorbell) I did it all to avoid cutting into the backsplash

Really nice! I like traditional. Our kitchen seems about the same size as yours, and it looks like you thought of everything. Love the corbels and woodwork! Congrats, and enjoy.

I agree with everyone - your kitchen is beautiful, and it looks very functional too. You mentioned the wood and stain of your cabinets, but not the maker - are they custom? I, too, love your tray storage and would love to steal that idea. How wide is that cabinet? I'll have a 12" wide one - I'm wondering if I should have KD order it w/o the door attached and we could somehow have DH or carpenter rig something up like you have on site.

    TIA,

    Lynne

I have 2 tray storages...one for tall trays which is a hidden drawer inside the island tucked behind my oven, it is 27 inches high, 8 inches wide and 31 inches deep

The tray storage for the shorter trays is 8 inches wide, 14 inches high and 21 inches deep but the drawer front is 12 1/2 wide

    Here is that picture..

    The cabinets are custom made....

    Beautiful kitchen. Well done! Enjoy!

What is the measurement of your kitchen from the sink wall to the fridge wall? Your kitchen layout is similar to what I'd like to create, but I suspect my kitchen is narrower in that dimension than yours. Lovely kitchen...

I love your kitchen. I especially love the backsplash used and the same Mushroom grout that I used that looks great with your tiles! I love the granite counters and the cabinets. I also love your floors that go so well with some contrast and are so warm looking. I like your kitchen better than your inspiration kitchen also. Beautiful and functional and worthy of being placed in a magazine. Thanks for sharing.

oh wow - that is really, really beautiful!
thx for listing the hardware. yours is very close to what i picked out for mine. the close up above shows me the center oval (?) is different. mine doesn't have that, the handle is unbroken really - but has a raised rectangle on the front center. i love the look of the dark hardware on it!

my kitchen is laid out as yours is on your cooktop wall and around thru the sink wall. my dw is plumbing to the left of the sink tho (and I'm hoping it won't be difficult or expensive to switch it to the right of the sink). then my fridge it to the right of the sink (and i hope to make it to the right of the DW!) my kitchen is small but it's just me and I do little cooking anymore. doesn't mean I don't want it to be pretty!

yours looks to have a lot of storage also. never can have too much of that!
    thx for sharing it here!

    Helene,
It is 15 feet from the sink wall to the fridge wall and 15 feet from the cooktop wall to where my kithen table area starts....

OOOOh SO PRETTY! You have allot of the elements in your kitchen that I will have but you have allot more space I am envious of you for that. I am a traditional girl at heart also. Great Job!

    Buzzy0,
I love your traditional kitchen. The corbels
under the granite island add an elegant touch.
The combination of the tile backsplash,
different countertops and stained woodwork is amazing.
The black appliances are a perfect with the
richness of the cherrywood. I think you did
a super job. Cooking in your kitchen must be
a delight. You have lots of light that warms
    the room.
    thanks for sharing your picturs.

Very pretty! I love your sink, can you tell me what kind/color/style it is?

It is Blanco Silgranite in the Anthracite color

You kitchen is lovely. It's so elegant and all of the details (like the carving above the range) really make it special. It's rich, warm and inviting...who could ask for more?!

    Beautiful kitchen.

What a gorgeous kitchen! I love all the details. The light fixture is really nice too.

Thank you....the kitchen fixture (all the fixtures in my house) is from Minka Lighting-Jessica McClintock I believe it what that one is...

Amazing, I thought I wanted a white kitchen but I am drooling over this! Gorgeous.

Buzzy, can I trouble you for all the gory details about cabinet manufacturer, style, and finish? Also, do you have a layout that you can post or email? are those upper 30 inch and 42 inch cabinets interspersed? (if you don't mind me possibly "lifting" your work). Did you work with a cabinet designer or do the design yourself? Is this a custom kitchen? I love love love the decorative details and practical details- like those amazing spice pullouts hidden behind the columns in by the cooktop! For the other columns, did they come attached to the cabinet fronts or did your contractor/carpenter do that? Is that a 2nd dishwasher in the island? my email is ncyue(at)comcast(dot)net if you want to email me privately. Congratulations! I also think that your kitchen is better than your inspiration kitchen.

Buzzy, I just re-read the posts and realized that the cabinets are custom made. That explains all the thoughtful details. I'd still love to see your layout if you have one!
