Does anyone have this kind of Chair? **PIC**

I purchased two of these at my moms community garage sales over the weekend for $30 each, they are 58 years old. I will eventually recover them when the budjet allows, but would like to see what fabric yours are in if you have any. Thanks :)

I think you could use anything you liked in either a solid or random match. Just wondering if this is the seat cushion that really goes with the chair. It doesn't look to be the correct size cushion, but that may be just the way it is photographed. It doesn't look wide or deep enough.

Actually, my youngest was sitting in the chair and I told him to get out and I didn't fix the cushion when he slid out of it.

I am thinking maybe a nice cream color because I seem to change decor every couple of years and atleast with a cream color it would pretty much go with anything.

I inherited the same chair from an older relative when she passed away.... it was her favorite.
I haven't recovered it yet... Our chair doesn't have the nail head on it and is in a lighter fabric. If you would like I'll take a picture to show you.
What's interesting is our cushion looks like yours in the picture. I feel like the cushion could be a little longer and wider.... I thought maybe she had redone the cushion and it wasn't quite the right size... but now after seeing yours the same way, maybe that is the original cushion.

I like the current fabric a lot - I like the swirly pattern, and I like the red throw pillow paired with it. I think those were a steal at $30. Did you run up to them at the sale and throw your arms around them and yell out "Mine!"?

I'm glad the posters above me addressed the seat cushion issue because that was my first thought too! I hope other people post photos of theirs. Interesting that ruthie s inherited the same chairs from an older relative. Whenever we go to the sales in the "older" communities, it's usually a bunch of junk with high prices.

Yes, if you could take a pic that would be great!!!

My mom lives in a community called Lake Tapps Island and the majority are waterfront homes and most of the residents are in their 30-40's. The lake homes were undervalued because they would drain the lake between Oct and May so residents could work on their boats. They have not done that for the past 3 years and the home prices have SKYROCKETED!!

However, most of the stuff people were selling was just junk!! I went back 3 times to look and them and tried to visualize who they would look in my room, then purchased them.

Just wanted to say that I love that chair. Great deal.

I lost my camera, but when my daughter gets home from school I'll use hers and post it. I should go up and look at it ... By the way, I like the current color and fabric of your chair. Very pretty with your rug and black accents. Ours is kind of pale yellow/gold and looks much more dated. Isn't it comfortable?!

Thanks Ruthie, I would appreciate it. To tell you the truth, I haven't even sat in it, LOL, but the guy selling it kept saying "sit it in, sit in it", but I had my three young kids in the car and was just trying to make a deal and get out of there before he changed his mind. LOL

Oh man, you got a GREAT deal on that chair! I inherited one from my g-mom's estate. It's called a fan back chair. I've wanted to purchase another one for the *fire side* but the prices, ouch! so it will have to wait. I haven't had it upholstered yet, might do it myself. But either way I'm having that chair & one really fuggly one from Hubby's g-mom covered in dark brown really lux velvet w/a nice down seat. They really are comfortable chairs.
I really like the upholstery on the one you purchased though. If mine looked as nice I'd clean it & just keep it! :)

Wow. GREAT deal on some beautiful chairs--congratulations!!!

I recently purchased a chair in this style. It's also referred to as a "channel back chair." The upholstery is in very good shape, so we probably won't be reupholstering it for awhile. They are incredibly comfortable. You won't be sorry!

Here are a couple of pics of mine (a CraigsList buy--a good deal at $150, but certainly not a great deal like yours!). The fabric is a satin type, but is much less "shiny" than it appears in the photos:

P.S. I really like the fabric on yours, as well. Before reupholstering, you might want to consider having an upholstery cleaner just give it a good cleaning. We did this for another old chair we bought and while it still needs reupholstering in the future, the cleaning really made a difference.

I will have to post our photo tomorrow... It's interesting how they are a little different in the detail. Our channel back doesn't have the wood trim on the arms.

Ohh, Organic, I really like your chair. Thanks for telling me what they are called, I wasn't sure. I like the color and will probably do mine in a cream eventually because like I said in a previous post I usually end up redoing that room every two years and atleast with a cream color it would pretty much compliment any decor.

I've had this one in our bedroom for many years, although it's not an antique.

I'm on a fabric kick and have found some really great things that I love. I have no idea what your style is, but these would look fantastic on that chair.

can't make a decision. OOoohh I love the b/w fabric, where did you find that?

They are sold out of it, but isn't it wonderful?

Ohh that is goregous, I am going to save it to my favorites!

    Beautiful chair.

Think about this--what will happen to the furniture everybody's buying today (essentially stained plywood or other cheap wood manufactured in China) in 50 years? My guess is it will all be in a landfill.

I like to update with newer things too but some older quality furniture sure makes a nice statement in a home. Congrats
