House, market ready?
Comments (3)How long do you plan on being in the home? Is the space worth the cost for your own enjoyment in the meantime? Whether it adds value depends entirely on the person who might be interested in your house. For the right person, absolutely. If someone really loves parking their cars in the garage, probably not. I'm about to do the same to my garage....See MorePOLL: Is your house too big, too small or just right?
Comments (240)I am 13 years old I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters about 2 years ago we lived in a 3500 sq ft house it was an okay size for us, it was 6 bedroom 4 bath, I shared I mean it's a size that's comfy but then we upscale to a 5,000 square ft house and for me it's perfect we all have our own space, living, kitchen, dining, breakfast, sunroom, master, master bath, his and hers closet,6 other bedrooms with private bath, (one is a jack and Jill with another bedroom) bonus room and office for my dad my room is 13 x 14 which is perfect for me but it really depends on you're preference, our family likes larger homes, to us that old 3500 sq ft home was small and crowded (for a family of 7) because my room is 186 sq ft and a 55 sq ft bathroom and a 30 sq ft closet (I have the smallest). When it comes to kids 250 to 400 is good (Count their bathroom, closet, and other rooms made for them) then like if you have 3 kids that's about 975 sq ft for the kids areas, so now you have kitchen, living, dining, and master(you may have more rooms) but my parents room is 374 sq ft with a bathroom that's 150 and closet that is 160 so about 500-700 sq ft for master, and then I always add about 190 sq ft for each room and every room since living would normally be bigger you still add 190 to even small rooms, like extra bathrooms or even something as small as a mud room and you should have around your perfect sq ft...See MoreTaj Mahal Quartzite: Too Good to be True?
Comments (73)lmp1959 I hope the Mystery White is perfect for your kitchen. It's a lot of work finding the right slab, and it's not like you can change it in a few years like paint, or ever a floor. I have been looking for months at five or more stone yards. I am sure they are tired of seeing me, but they get deliveries constantly. That Taj slab is the first one that I have liked. My cabinets are cream and the brick floor is busy, so it's been a tough search to find anything that works. The Taj Mahal is calm and safe, but I love the Tahitian Cream. I need to sleep on it....See MoreStaged To Sell: Showing your home when its on the market.
Comments (24)IMO, staging works well on mid-sized to large homes, but I think it's a very bad idea on homes with less than 900 sq. feet. Smaller homes desperately need to look like they have a ton of room for potential buyers. Staging with a lot of furniture and accessories will always make a home look smaller, especially if they are not open concept - and most older, pre-1970 ranch homes are not. I also think that staging with extreme "designer" pieces could work against a seller as it may be impossible for the potential buyer to visualize their own things in place with flamboyant staging in front of them. Keep the staging mild and stay away from excessive bright colors. Personally, I'd want to see a home with zero staging because I have no trouble visualizing, (I've purchased two homes in the past and neither had staging) but I realize most people can't visualize at all. They need help. Staging is that help....See Morencrealestateguy
