Accent color for BM Palladian Blue Bathroom?

Just painted the kids (ages 11 & 13) bath this pretty blue color and would love some ideas for the artwork/accessories. This also serves as the guest bath, so I am looking for a more elegant as opposed to fun overall look. Here's what I have to work with:

1) almond colors on the floor and tub surround, almond tub and toilet

2) a yellowish double sink top, close to BM Corinthian White, with a shower curtain in that family

3) dark walnut stain on oak double vanity

4) chrome metals

I'd love a punch of color. Thanks for your ideas!

We have a similar paint color in our master bath (medium oak cabinet instead of dark) and for years I had dark blue and rose towels. They've finally worn out and I was really sick of the rose, so I went looking for a "splash of color". I went to Target and bought a floor rug in every single color, except burgundy because it doesn't go with the new color scheme in the bedroom which is greens and blues, they had in the Waverly line (their Thomas O'Brien and Fieldcrest lines are great, but costs twice as much and we're not really that hard on towels).

DH and I laid them out and analyzed. A few we ruled out right away. DH didn't like the Hotel Gold, but that might work for you with the yellowish sink top. We settled on Loch Ness, a mossy green shade. I wouldn't have thought it would work, but it did.

You might try the burgundy as well.

Anyhow, the cashier looked at me kind of funny when I checked out 8 different colors of the same rug, but she understood when I explained.

It really helped to see them firsthand. I was surprised by what we ended up choosing, but like it very much.

In a blue bathroom with browny-beige tiles, I made a shower curtain out of simple Waverly "Country Life" toile in khaki and white, painted the old vanity chocolate brown, used a warm camel rug on the floor, fluffy white towels, and a couple of colorful but subtle reproductions of antique illustrations of fish in thin black frames on the walls. The khaki/camel gave depth to what was essentially a blue and white scheme, made that great blue the star of the show, and didn't argue with the tiles that were already there.
If it appeals to you, a similar idea might work in your bath, which already has almond finishes and dark wood.

How about a dark taupey gray? I have Palladian Blue on the ceiling of my mudroom and the walls are BM Affinity 'Weimaraner'. It looks pretty smashing together - trim is BM 'Chamois White'.

    Thanks for the wonderful suggestions.

Randita: great idea on the bath rugs. Thank goodness for the generous return policies. I'll be bringing home lots of posters from Hobby Lobby to see what pops.
Bronwynsmom: Camel could be nice. I have some fabic i can bring into the room to see what moves me.
Circuspeanut: Your color scheme sounds very elegant. If it weren't for my yellowish counter I'd give it a go!

It's nice to have a change after 18 years!
