Please help pick fabric to coordinate with CL sofas

So after getting my CL sofas in their new home, I looked around and decided the room needed some spiffing up. I was so inspired by the recent chair makeover threads. pugga's fantastic makeover and oceanna's inspirational pics sent me to the fabric store.

I came home with these fabric swatches. They're both paislies. The swatch on the left is a tapestry. The one on the right is a cotton velveteen. If you're wondering about the blue in the velveteen, there's a bit of blue in the rug.

They are sitting on my new dusty grey-green CL sofa with the drapery pulled up so you can see it. The drapes are a taupey silk(technically "mocha") on the top 65% and a coppery embroidered taffeta on the bottom 35%. I spent a lot of time sewing the drapes so they definitely stay.

Here's the wingback chair that I'd be reupholstering.

I was leaning toward the tapestry, but all the boys really like the velveteen. The price difference between the two is nominal. My other thought was that if I got really adventurous, I could deconstruct the chair and use a coordinating stripe on the bottom part of the chair and the paisley on a great big cushion like in some of the inspiration pics on trailrunner's thread.

So what do you all think? The tapestry or the velveteen or something else entirely?

Here's the link to my earlier thread with pictures of the CL sofas in the room. The wingback chair would be in the corner of the room just off camera at the bottom right.

TIA for the help.

It's hard to tell, but I think that the tapestry goes better with the wood trim of the sofa. Is it the texture that your boys like better? if so, look for a velveteen in the colors of the tapestry.

DH doesn't like the tapestry because "it's too bright, too orange." This is a man who's entire wardrobe is grey, muted grey-green or muted grey-blue. Of course he also said I could do whatever because he just doesn't care. DS1 liked it because it's darker. DB's gym partner and roommate both liked it because of texture and DB said, "you're all gay."

You might wonder why my girlfriends haven't weighed in, yet. Well, I've seen all your LR's and your homes win hands down. I'll be checking with them this weekend.

I like the tapestry because of the colors.

In the top setup I like the tapestry just slightly more. On the chair, seeing the floor color, the wall color and the main drape color, I like the velveteen. Something about the tapestry and the floor color just isn't working for me in that shot.

I think you should post a photo of the rug too. If I remember correctly, it's more contemporary design, so I'm not sure that tapestry would work with it. Those are gorgeous sofas -- good find!!!

I like the lighter tone of the fabric on the left in the picture. Better contrast with everything else. Both are nice...but if you choose the one on the right everything will have the same "value." Have you ever seen those red filters quilters who have a hard time seeing values judge fabrics with? If you looked at both samples I'd bet dollars to donutst that the fabric on the right in the pictue would "read" just about identical to the drapes and sofa.

It looks like sentiment is leaning toward the tapestry.

Here's the pic with the rug in it and you're right it's definitely contemporary. My house tends to be very much transitional in style. Some old, some new.

I think part of my problem is that I really do like both fabrics and I just don't want to pick wrong. Is it nuts that I'm really looking forward to posting my first Tada! after pic?

Could you photograph both fabrics next to the rug? It looks to me that the velveteen colors go better with the rug and that the tapestry colors clash with the pinks. But that may be because of different lighting in the two pictures.

Here's a pic with the rug.

I think the one on the left goes better with your sofas and rug.

Definitely the one on the left. Looks much better with everything.

Thanks, ladies. I like both fabrics, but was leaning tapestry when I asked the boys for their opinions. After their answers, I started to feel like maybe I really am color blind(my father is blue-green cb and every time I wear a bold color pairing DH teases me that I'm cb, too.) I have some 50% off coupons that go into effect next week so I'll order the tapestry fabric on Monday.

Are those Robert Allen Home fabrics? If so, you may want to peruse fabricguru.com for something similar. The prices are phenomenal. I just ordered fabric for a coffee table ottoman...4 yards of high-end chenille upholstery fabric for under $20.
The fabric I originally upholstered it in is not DH's favorite, and after living with it for a month I agree. So for $20 to recover it, I can't b!tch.
