Green Bathroom Follow Up Questions...(Color Experts)

Well it looks like green might just work.

Here's the dilemma, while all the bathrooms are lovely that were posted, I have in my head a bright, apple green/pear green color that is NOT neon. I'm worried that since the room is small and during "leaf" season there is a big birch tree out there casting a greenish glow already, I don't want it to look like a nuclear power plant in there. My daughter's room was previously done in all those "hot" colors, and the color that would come out from under that door was crazy!

So, I want a bright, but not over the top-neon color. Nothing that will make people think "what the heck was this person thinking?" I don't want to be viewed as crazy. I went to BM store today. They just moved locations, as if I wouldn't find them. hah. I am leaning towards

BM Hibiscus 2027-50

BM Wales 2028-50

BM Fresh Cut Grass 2026-50

as you can see by the numbers, they are all neighbors. Usually I go with the darkest shade on a strip, but since the room is small, I assume that the green will be bouncing off of each wall onto the others. Plus, the green tree outside.

So, anybody have any ideas about this? Any photos?

The hallway outside the room is painted Baltic Gray, and the ceiling is Wrought Iron.

Here is a link that might be useful: The Other green bathroom thread.

Those are all pretty greens! Love the Hibiscus. Did you do a Google Image search? There are some very decent pictures for each of these colors.

Yep, I did. It looks "fresh" but not "crazy", right? I think it's the fact that it's in a small space that I want to be careful with one wall reflecting onto another wall and therefore intensifying the effect. I think this is what happened with the blue. It's a crazy blue now.

Let's try this again! I found that above, I could either have the photo OR text, but I wasn't able to get both to go in - odd.

That color above is Ben Moore Castleton Mist, HC-1. I just took it in my bedroom which has two 100 year oak trees right outside. It's like sleeping in a tree house.

You'd never even sample it based on how it looks online and in the fan deck, but that is how it looks IRL.

I fear that the 3 colors you have listed above with the possible exception of Wales green, might go a tad neon. I have a fluorescent yellow highlighter here in my office, and when put to paper, it looks just like the Fresh Cut Grass. I hate to say that, but just wanted to tell you, and I hope it doesn't make you feel bad!

MBath, main level guest room/bath and powder room are painted a SW or BM match to F&B French Gray. It's not as apple green as yours, but I don't see any difference in it during summer/winter.

Well, I'm not a color pro but will suggest anyways. We have SW Celery in our downstairs guest bath with white trim and IMHO it's perfection. Definitely not neon, it's a very crisp and fresh looking color. It seems you are a Benjamin Paint Fan, but the color can be matched. It does not show up the same on screen or even on the swatch really. If I had to describe it, I'd say would be in the middle of Wales and Fresh Cut Grass. I'd post a picture but since the bathroom is very tiny, I've not been able to get a good picture of it.

I agree with M3D about the highlighter effect. Also worried a bit about the ones that lean so yellow...don't want the u%ine effect, IYKWIM. I'd be looking at Folk Art 528, if you haven't already. It is a slightly knocked-back version of what you're flirting with.

ooooo, folk art and castleton mist look nice and in the direction I'm talking about. (well, at least on my monitor). Allison, your bathroom is beautiful, but not the direction I'm looking for in this room, I want it more "springy", if you will. But it is really pretty and looks good with the blue behind it around the tub.

I don't have either folk art or castleton chips in my possession, so I'll just go upstairs right now and torture myself with my neon chips so I can be reassured!

I do have SW Celery on a paint chip too, I'll stick that up there. Got that one today as well. Isn't it convenient that BM and SW are in the same shopping center now? And the SW store was serving lunch too.

Alright kids, I took some pictures of this space. The more I think about it, I think doing a wow color is going to be too much for me. I think if I didn't have to do above the tub, it might work...take a look at the photos.

I'm looking through old paint swatches, and I'm wondering would Weimeramer be too dark with the dark floor, maybe Natural Cream would work, a little bit of contrast with the tub and the woodwork....

Look at the photos, not the best, but hey, what do you expect with a camera phone?

View from doorway, looking in mirror you can see the tub

side of shower opposite shower head

from that spot looking towards the door

from where the toilet will be, between vanity and window

    and this is The Tree

From the top, (these are taped onto the tub wall, so you can see the contrast) They are:
    Natural Cream
    Weimaramer
    Wales Green
    Hibiscus

My tile will be this one on the left it is 6x24

Top chip is Natural Cream, showing it against Cloud White

Showing the Fab 4 with the floor tile in the photo

    ------

So, I looked at the Preview, the photos are not that great at all. Not sure if the colors are represented all that well. The Weimeramer isn't that dark, it will look ok with the dark cabinets and the floor, not sure though if the whole room would have a "dark vibe" though.

I will look at the greens suggested earlier in this thread tomorrow.

I gotta get ready to go to dinner. Takin' me Aussie student out for her last night here!

I painted my Powder room Laurentide Paint called Clean and Somber -C114-20. I love it but it might only be available in Canada, But here is a photo to give you an idea.
The wainscott is BM Cloud white.
I did change that pedestal sink to white.

I like the idea of a granny apple green, but if you're looking for a soft green, SW honeydew is a beautiful, fresh color. I like feeling fresh and clean in a bathroom :)

Lyban, your color is very close to the SW Celery color we have. It's lovely.

I think you need a sophisticated modern green to go with what you have in the rest of your house if you do green. From what I have seen of folkart green it is more of an "earthy" green. I think you need a cleaner green, but I think the hibiscus would give me a headache.

So back to the store I went.

    With my list.

Of course there is no paint chip for Folk Art. I did pick up the others. The guy (who I don't really trust because he told me once I would love Calm, and it looked like flesh) asked what it was I was working on. I told him. I actually said that I needed a "sophisticated modern green", and he and his wife (who was in the shop at the time) both said "Wasabi". Are you kidding me? I'm back to Wasabi? Oh boy. They said they have it in a stairwell, and I said I was concerned about the light bouncing off the walls and intensifying it, they said that it doesn't happen with it.

I'm going to get out my can of paint, and try it in there.

If I end up with Wasabi, I'm just going to have to shoot myself.

    ugh

Otherwise, I think I'll try something like a silver satin or something very neutral. Maybe just the Zinser primer in white might work.

I don't know, but when I think about what would look nice in your house, I come up with an eggplant color, perhaps even with wasabi accents.

I like Sweet Caroline, Dune Grass & Limsickle for fresh greens, but I don't know if they're bright or clean enough for you. The green chips in the photos certainly look like they'd go neon, IMO.

Hi there, I love BM woodlawn green. I am thinking about it for my kitchen.
