Dining Room Color --- I'm stuck, please help!!

I have an opportunity to get my dining room painting in the next couple of days at a very good price, but I just have to pick the color. I'm struggling because I want a rich, warmer color in the dining room (without it being too dark) but I dont' want to do a dark red or a bright orange. I'm thinking 're-sale sophisticate' :)

There is this color from Ralph Lauren 'Country Cork' that I love, but I'm afraid that with my woodwork, hardwood floors, and somewhat darker dining room table that the room might look all blah. Would it look okay?

Here are some dining room pictures --- any insight you might have would be extremely appreciated --- this forum has so many talented people with great suggestions!

Dining Room

And here is a link of that 'Country Cork' color I was thinking about....

Thank you so much!!!!

Ammarton......Just my opinion. What about a sagey green color. I personally love that color with your furniture. There are two that I have in my home. Both BM paints....Wethersfield Moss or Nantucket Gray.
    Beautirul dining room set!

I think green would look great, too.

I also think that a green would look good. I also thought of Tobacco Road which is a tan/gold color. I have it in my dining room. Let me see if I can get a picture to show up.

Beautiful dining set. With the mission style for some reason I see cherry blossoms. With that in my head I see a very soft putty/green like Benjamin Moore limesetone or maybe aculpoco sand or an Aura color called tea room. Good luck!

Thank you! This is my struggle, while I think green would look really good in here, an adjoining room (my kitchen) is already green (Behr: Rejuivanate) which is like a minty, deeper green but not very deep. Here is the vantage point from the dining room into the kitchen:

Can I still do a green in the dining room if my kitchen is already green? I hate to have two different shades fighting eachother.... Thanks!

If you find a darker green that you like for your dining room that you feel doesn't blend well with the kitchen, just get it cut 50% and roll a coat on your kitchen walls.

Ok so I paid the $4.95 at Behr's website so I can mess with different colors....

If I go one shade deeper that is in my kitchen right now, it would look like this:

...It is a shade darker than my kitchen...but I still think the greens might fight. Also, my adjoining living room is like a creamy light yellow and this green might jump out too much...

...but another color at Behr's site that I'm eyeing...Peanut Butter....

With the peanut butter....is that too much brown? But since it is more of a neutral color I think it might blend more easily with the other colors in my home...but I just don't want the dining room to be all blah brown.

What about just bringing the LR wall color into the DR?

I thought about just taking the LR color into the DR....it would look a bit like this:

I just don't know about yellow in a dining room....not getting the look I want. I understand that my house is very very small and there isn't much negative space in between rooms...and I don't want every room to be such a stark, different color that my house looks like a daycare center...but at the same time it is a formal dining room and I wanted it to pop a little bit... :-/ So frustrating! :-)

What is the living room wall color? I think the green you painted in the DR is too bright a shade. Of the two, the Peanut Butter looks better.

If you do a green it should be toned down more.

I agree with Parma; if my monitor is showing the darker green correctly, it looks too bright/minty. I think the Peanut Butter probably works better than the County Cork color. I think you'd probably want to add some color in the room somewhere, though -- with accessories like some pottery on the sideboard, some kind of centerpiece on the table (even just a colorful bowl), maybe new covers for the chair seats?

Just wanted to say I love your dining room set. That Peanut Butter color looks lovely, but if you can find the right green that would really look wonderful!

Another vote for Peanut Butter -- or even a slightly darker shade if possible ......

Perhaps add Raspberry (in color?) accents? PB and J ?? LOL!

Maybe a copper bowl or pottery bowl (in neutral tones) on the table with red apples? Or pears?

A lamp or two (in black iron Mission style) on the buffet would be nice too!

You know, when we bought the dining room set there were these *perfect* mission style lamps as you describe on display sitting on the buffett and I was going to purchase them and my husband said "no no no we can get those later". Well, I've had a hard time trying to find them and the furniture store no longer carries them...grrr! But I digress...

Home Depot closes in less than two hours and with painters coming tomorrow, I have no choice but to take a chance and go with the Peanut Butter. It is probablly my safest bet. I have not even attempted to decorate this dining room yet (other than purchasing furniture), so I really intend on bringing in splashes of color, both in artwork, pottery, and textiles. Perhaps a punch of orange on a table runner or something like that. Plus I haven't even gotten an oriental for the dining room yet (still recovering from the cost of the orientals in the LR and hallways) so I'm confident I can get some color in there. Also I need to purchase a new chandelier so I'll have another opportunity there ---- I hope!

Thank you all for your help! Wish me luck!!
