Bedside tables...Matching Bedroom Lamps?

Do you have matching lamps in the bedroom?

We're re-decorating our bedroom and going to make two large

bedside tables. The size is going to be 32-34" wide x

27 x 28 " high by 18" deep. It will have 4 drawers and a shelf underneath. I have been lamp shopping and so far found two lamps at Home goods. They are the same height and the shades are very similar.

What do you think about having similar but different lamps on each table?

Also does anyone have matching end tables that are big in size?

I'll post the drawing here. I have already changed the feet on the matching perfume cabinet on top to Ogee feet

(instead of ball feet) Hubby is going to have a treasure chest that will be about 9" high, (not designed yet.)

I prefer non matching lamps. I like a room to look relaxed and not staged but that's just me. I'm sure you'll make a good decision for you. Either way your room will look great cuz you always make nice rooms.

I have a table lamp on one side and a swing lamp attached to the wood door headboard on the other side of the bed.

Your new tables will be great.

I like the harmony of having same tables and lamps flanking the bed ; always have. The rest of my bedroom is ecclectic and of various materials and fabrics, metal , wood.

I love the ogee feet; you'll have to show us your finished projects, you guys are so talented.

is your bed king or queen; I personally love large bedside tables, my new ones are pretty big.

I tend towards matching lamps, but contrasting lamps look great too. I would be less apt to want to use two lamps that were similar but not matching.

I would want the bottom of the shades to be at the same height.

For what it's worth: I read somewhere that if the tables match the lamps should match too.

I hate matchey matchey and always have. Although, I have two of the same lamps in my living room and it drives me nuts. I'm going to change that soon as I can find a better looking lamp.

Joann, I think two similar lamps on the bedside tables would look fabulous. Remember anyone can go out and buy matching lamps.

Gosh, I would kill to have a husband that could build things, but as it is. lol

I'll just echo newdawn (well except for the hubby part thankyouverymuch! I've got a pretty handy one myself LOL).

I don't have matching tables or lamps in our bedrooms. I think similar lamps would work or even two completely different ones.

Love the table designs and the feet. Can't wait to see!

Thanks Ladies, I have nothing in the house that matches, since I was doing matching end tables, I thought I should
match the lamps. I have them up on my end tables now, and the one I chose for me is more delicate and the one for Cliff is more "manly" LOL...So if i don't find the mate to mine (it's the one I really love) I can live with the mismatched lamps..

    Please more opinions are welcomed.

If I get a chance, I'll take some pics of the lamps for a sneak preview.
We finished the drapes and cornices and I love it. Hubby does all the sewing cause we have a big commercial machine
and I make him nervous when I sew. The speed is very fast and hard to control and I sew with my fingers close to the foot. He doesn't want to make the trip to the emergency ward when I put the needle through my finger.
I also have a wicker chair that I want to make new pillows
for, as well and refinishing the antique wash stand. Lots to do...
Mitchdesi, how big are your end tables? I also have ecclectic look -- pecan furniture and a wicker and iron headboard. I now want a British Colonial feel to the bedroom... I currently have wicker end tables that are about 22" high and 21" x 21" so the big tables are going to
    be a leap.

hummm, how big are they; I had small ones before; I'm away now but I would venture to say they are 34 wide by 20 deep, height is shorter than a dresser,
as a matter of fact they are like short dressers. I have a king bed with an iron head and footboard and frame, masses of cushions, so they go with the look.

I'm not a matchy matchy person either, except when it comes lamps. lol. If they don't match, either on opposite tables from a sofa or a bed, it throws me off.

But your home is extremely unique and I think you can get away with it. :)

We have different tables, but matching lamps. I'm honestly thinking of changing my lamp because I read in bed and the one I have just doesn't quite give enough light.

Like sjt2900, I have unmatched bedside tables, but matching lamps. That way, when you walk in the bedroom, there's a symmetry because you notice the matching lamps flanking the bed, but the room is more interesting (I think...) for it's mismatched furniture.

Sorry, I couldn't get good shots. It's very overcast today and I need to use the tripod, because the photos came blurry.
I mocked up a table using two folding tables together, then on top of the folding tables I put my dining room table pad. The height is 27" length 33" x 20" wide. I think I'll just scale down the width to 19" I also want to shim it up another inch and see what 28" high looks like.
