A while back I bought a beautiful, new still in the box Broan 36" SS chimney style hood with 900cfm on Ebay for $300 plus $45 for freight.HD was selling the same one for $1000+.
Im not familiar with either of the ones you are looking at but I was VERY satisfied with the one I got and there were dozens of different styles and brands available. If you havent checked Ebay, I believe it can be a good source, just always remember to read the offering complete, be very aware of the freight and handling charges before you bid and read the sellers terms for return if the product isnt what you wanted or was misrepresented.

I agre there are tons of options for range hoods that look similiar to the RC Canterbury that are much more affordable. The only problem is that you will sacrafice quality. That said, Broan, Imperial and Sirius are good alternates.
