Modern kitchen addition - still in progress - thank you GWers

I have learned so much info and wanted to post my progress:

I love both my Blanco sinks:

Because of great deals and GWers recommendations, I went with a Cheng Zephr hood and Thermador 36" induction - love them both!

My Taj Mahal quartzite was worth the splurge!

Waiting for my bar stools to come in and can't decide on a backsplash or paint color - any ideas?

My two stainless cabinets are frosted, I can't believe how much I can see in there - uggh!

This has been a huge undertaking and I have followed you all daily and am very happy with my choices - so Thank you so much!

How much do I love that quartzite and those pendants?! I always wondered what the Cheng would look like in a real kitchen. Wow! It all looks great!

How fun and inspired. I can just imagine how the lights glisten off the black quartz.

OMG, you have hood of desire. I hate you.

The rest of the kitchen is beautiful, too. The taj mahal is amazing. I still hate you.

    :) Its wonderful.

Again, beautiful kitchen. Sorry I have nothing to offer on backsplash. I am at a standstill with mine..just can't find "it".

Yeah, as one of them, I was laughing when Badgergirl was giving Packergirl advice on the hardware placement thread!

Hit submit early. Also meant to say that your kitchen is really sleek and beautiful. You are in the home home stretch!

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. There is not one item I would change. Congratulations on a job well done!

wow! so sleek and unique! i ave never seen your hood before, very cool-looking! how about glass tile for backsplash or something white and pearlescent to go with your lovely tajmahal?

Wow...VERY nice. It's really gorgeous and well put together. I love the pendants and the quartzite, especially, and the combo of the contemporary kitchen with the more traditional windows.

I can envision all sorts of colors on the wall. For me, because it's my preference, they are all grayed/subdued... Grayed tan, grayed green, grayed blue...any according to your preference or what goes with the TajMahal in real life... Or just a creamy gray. The cooler colors would connect with the stainless and let the wood stand out, adding the warmth.

packergirl - Won't hold it against you being from WI - as you might guess, my blood runs blue.
    Beautiful and inspirational kitchen.
I have to know your ideas for your backsplash and walls!
    Thanks!

    That is one sexy hood.

Looking gorgeous! I love the sleek lines, cabinetry, lighting, and countertops.

Thank you everyone! Yes, rhome, I agree, I'm thinking a grey-brown color. I'm actually transitional in style but was drawn to modern in the kitchen ( I have been following you for over a year btw:) My floors look normal in the pics, but a huge company in the Milwaukee area did my floors said they couldn't believe what an unusual and interesting color I picked (I might have the record for taking the longest to pick a stain). I guess that's part of being between modern and traditional. I'm thinking a glass backsplash.... one simple color, maybe even clear with the paint color behind if there is such a thing.... any thoughts?

I see a smokey grey for paint color and glass for the backsplash. Would complement the Taj Mahal.

Sounds great.... and thank you! :-)

But I don't think you can let the paint color show through, if that's what you had in mind (maybe I'm misunderstanding)... But maybe you'll find a glass to coordinate with the paint.

Have any of you used Tantrum slivers? I only have a small sample, but I think I would like them.

Hey packergal, I've been meaning to jump on here and tell you what a great kitchen you have. I can't decided which of your countertops I like better. They are both stunning. That range hood is quite unique too.
Over the years I have had floors refinished by 4 different floor places in the Milwaukee area so I may have used your same company too. Hey maybe we are practically neighbors and don't know it.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

With such a modern kitchen - how about back painted glass. I am advocating for someone to try it as I am considering it but not sure if it will work and be in budget......
Large format glass tiles (skip the subway with this kitchen) or even template glass if you can afford it..

Although I am not drawn to modern spaces, regularly, I have to let you know your kitchen is stunning. And I do appreciate your good taste. Nicely done.
