I can see the pictures in your last link. I think your instincts are right and they have an odd shape to them. I see them working more in the dining room for the head and foot of the table than in a bedroom.

I agree with valinsv that they appear to be host chairs, not wingback reading chairs that you might find in a LR or BR. The backs are very straight, the arms low (probably to clear the apron of the dining table), and the wings aren't deep enough to provide the user with protection from drafts, which was the original purpose of the wingback. I would pass at that price unless you really love them.

Wow, they are standing at attention there! How uncomfortable they look. They do look odd -- and too alert for a bedroom : )
