Finally getting to backsplash..opinions needed

We were about 90% done, and came to a standstill over backsplash decisions. Hopefully, we are ready to finish this thing! Our granite is typhoon bordeaux, and cabinetry is maple...we actually don't care for the look of subway tiles in our kitchen and are thinking of going in a different direction than most pictures we have seen of similar-looking kitchens - here are some photos:
My husband has photoshopped this in, but I don't have it on this computer, will try to post that later. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
