Don't laugh . . . WIP

I got a new toilet . . . .

I saved the tank from the old one and am mosaicing it to be an outdoor planter. Here's what it looks like so far.

Don't you dare laugh!

(And yes, I left the handle on it just for fun)

Very cool, I like it! And I did NOT laugh :)

We are thinking about adding a new bathroom, and have a spare GREEN toilet that someone gave us. I was looking at it just yesterday thinking..."hmmmm...I could mosaic that baby to cover all that GREEN and USE it...save buying a new one...hmmmmm" Maybe I'll just make it into a planter!

oops... I laughed, couldn't help myself. it was more like a giggle really.

    it's delightful

Wench, that is great! I love your design. I don't think anyone would know it's a toilet back unless they look close at the handle. Great recycling!

thats really neat. have to look close to see what it really is. love your mosaics...barb

    Does a smile count?

I replaced a toilet seatnot to long ago, I so wanted to keep it,mosaic it and plant around it.

    Nice job.,really, it looks good!!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I laughed. That's really good though because it's been a tough day.
Great idea...I'm glad you didn't keep the bowl.

I laughed, but it was a good laugh! It looks awesome!

That has to be the most original mosaic subject I have ever seen!!!

After reading the posts before looking, thought I'd laugh, but didn't! I (strangely) thought of going through a car wash into a forest when I saw the beautiful pattern!

wench- I have to say I laughed...only because I have a toilet seat that I have on my list of TBM...I bought a new one from homedepot a month or two ago!!! I wanted to put it over a planter and let plants grow out of it..

Your tank is really pretty!!! I love the colors and design..

Now why would we laugh? I've seen many of these done, and beautifully. I, too, got the forestry impression from yours, WENCH. Good job. Haciendo Mosaico had a toilet bowl planter sorta nestled among the tropical plants near the outdoor kitchen, and I thought it was wonderful. I THINK I remember hers being mosaiced in all green dishes - help me, CALAM/KLINGER/ROSIE - wasn't it just solid green dishes? Wonderful planter ideas.

    i love it!

Thank you all - even if you did laugh!

The toilet was replaced in December and the old one resided outside until I could get to it. In the meantime the bowl cracked . . . bummer. Oh well - at least I have the tank which has been fun to play with.

I can't wait to get it done so I can plant it with tons of pretties and set it out for all to see . . . and comment upon. Never a shortage of comments.

How fantastic!!!! Beautiful! And just in time for G day in my neck of the woods! There's bound to be a toilet on the side of the road in the next 24 hours. Great project!

I automatically thought about your enviable sink that I covet!!! I had a purpley/mauve tiolet but last yrs purge has hit the road to a better home, hopefully,,,I do have a whole bunch of broken toilet pcs,of different colors that I've always wanted to do a mural with, have been packing them around, even moved! for 4yrs!!! Just can't part with them, and now I want to do sisdewalks down in my back 40 sooooo....we have the green toilet/tub/sink in our master bathroom, the plastic tub surround is cracked...don't know how that happened...you know, I could mosaic.......DH starts shaking.....(not just his head)...His motto, if it's fine don't fix it, mine, must change every few yrs!!!!

Wench,I didn't laugh at all I thought it was beautifulllllllll!Love the design and colors will be fantastic planted..Annie

I smiled:) The old man just replaced our broken toilet seat,it was one of those oak ones, and I stood over the garbage can holding it while he rolled his eyes. I went ahead and tossed it. I do want one of those old bathroom sinks in pink or green to make a potting bench.Don't ya know since I saw a pic of one last year I haven't been able to find one. DH said he will take our old farmhouse kitchen sink that's been laying out in the woods for about 40 years, and make me one from it. The one I want was made from an old dresser, mosaiced on the top,OF COURSE :),and old windows for doors where the drawers used to be,a shelf in the middle for pots and plants. Wish I could find a pic of that again.

Just a lurker here, but my opinion is.......What a wonderfully inventive way to use something that would normally just take up space in a landfill site! Kudos!!

We're getting a new ter-lit soon ..... I Just might have to copy that ! ( NO laughing here !)

now that's one I for sure hadn't thought of ..
the toilet, yes...but not the water tank..great!!

and, whatever happened to a picture of that chair you made a long time ago...remember, I said I though it should sell for $1,200 or so?

well, now after nicetyme's table, the chair should be up in that price range..inflation, you know...

that was one of the greatest pieces of work I'd seen at that time and still think about it...
    got the picture still?

Yup - the chair sits in my living room for the winter . . . which reminds me, I should put it out on the porch.

I don't even "see" it anymore. Looking at that photo reminded me how much I hate it!

And why do you hate it. It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I'm eyeing the chair in my guest bathroom, and one day I'm gonna haul off and start glueing stuff on it. I have two on my back patio that need mosaicing too. Sooooo many surfaces, sooooooo little time/energy. Love your chair.

wench.....I love it! What a great idea, and what a beautiful job you did! I'm with Jane.....I just love that sink you did.....and I'm so glad you posted the chair.....I love that, too!

OH CRAP!! (pun intended!) I wish I'd have thought of that when they chucked my old toilet. What a great idea. Yours looks just super!

Be careful. Now you have given all the crazy mosaic obsessed people an idea. They will not only mosaic sinks, bath surrounds, bathroom doors...BUT ALSO THEIR TOILETS!

    GGG

i like it! it's a really great idea (and i love those colours together).

OH And why couldn't a person do their toilet tank while it is still in the house? OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GGG SLAP SLAP SLAP on you!! For giving me another idea. My husband will just >>>>>>>>>>>>>>(do I dare say crap???)I wonder how much a person=me could mosaic in 8 hours while he is gone at work?? Now if I had Slow here.:^)) Slow you need an Idaho vacation??

Wench your tank is wonderful. Are you planning to bring it in in the winter? I remember your BB page and wondered. As it is now all my mosaic projects for the yard will have to come in for the winter. In = stored in the well house.

    Chris

Yes Shades, it will come in for the winter.

It will line up with all the orbs waiting to come inside in October. My family says when I line them up like that they look ready to attack!

I finished grouting it yesterday and I have to plant it today, but gotta have hubby help me move it. I also have 12 yards of mulch in my driveway and am cutting the lawn . . . . not busy at all . . . .

SHADES - thanks for the confidence - yeah, I could get one of those covered in a day, I THINK, if I had all the materials already cut. That's why I've been cutting glass for three days so I'll be ready to run like crazy when I start my bathroom project. Anxious to see the tank grouted and planted, WENCH.

Ah! So thats why Slows so fast. I usually cut my glass as I go along.

N-O-T!!! The constant TX rainy weather has been making me feel a tad weary lately, and not to give in to it, I did the best I could and spent the last three days sitting down and cutting glass cuz I was too weary to work on a project. I usually cut as I go cuz I don't know what I'm gonna do until an idea comes and I need a certain color or shape.
