Antique pine dresser---CL---What do you think?

I need to replace a cheapo dresser. What do you think of this? Is it a reasonable price? Also, they told me that "the drawers don't slide very easily"? Is that fixable?

I love it, wow, beautiful. I think it's a great price, and in most cases, the sliding drawer problem is fixable. We've bought a few off CL with that problem, and were able to make the drawers slide like new.

This is a great piece! :)

    Absolutely stunning! Hurry, hurry!

Beautiful. I have one almost like it that was passed down from my dad's family who originally came to the US from England. All it needs is to be waxed and loved...that is one gorgeous chest. c

I love pine and that style of dresser - it is really beautiful. I would buy it!

DO NOT DELAY - email to see it and bring cash! Sticky drawers can be fixed with paraffin in some cases, and in others, you may need to plane them down a bit where they slide into the runners.

I do wonder about the light area below the bottom drawer, and wonder if it's the way the light is shining on it? If not, you can carefully stain it to match.

That is a piece that you'd have for a life time, if it's your taste - it sure is MINE!

I'm in the Falls Church area. I hope you are already picking that piece up before I get there! It will be unbelievably beautiful when you polish it up.

Often, all the drawers need is some wax on the wood.....rub the runners with a candle. (I've even used bar soap, when I didn't want to ruin a good candle)

Just be sure the drawers pull out evenly. If they pull out lopsided, it may need a little more tweeking, not a big job but a little more effort then waxing.

    Pretty piece. Go get it!

Yes, I got It! Will post pictures tomorrow after it's polished.

There are some issues with the drawers, e.g. the little thingie that stops them from getting pushed in all the way is missing on some of them, and there's a problem with the rail of another one. My husband thinks he can fix it.

Yay! I can't wait to see it....

Here's a picture. It's kind of dark in the room right now. It's a pretty honey yellow pine. Above the two drawers is another drawer without pulls.
It's obvious that the piece was stained dark at one point, trying to simulate a fancier wood. There's reddish stain in places and all of the bun feet are stained, with the rear one being very dark.

The pulls are wood with little metal flowers in the middle.

Now, I need to figure out how to fix the drawers.

P.S. If anyone is interested: They also had a bed for sale in tiger oak with really amazing turned spindle posts. Haven't been able to find anything like that online.
