Please post pictures if you have natural wood trim.

Here I go again. Summer is closing in and I'm getting the urge to bring out the paint. I always tell people it is easier than dusting. lol I have painted this house teal green, eggplant, lighter eggplant and now it is supposed to be a subtle grayish green but everyday it is looking more green. It could be the fact that I don't really love green as my first choice. As much as I am trying to veer away from having purple as my main colour and not my accent, I am still fighting with the proper colour choice.

I have knotty pine baseboard and trim, oak furniture, pine cupboards and dark gray slate tile. Lots of light and love dark colour so why can't I find the right shade of whatever to paint with. I just finished painting the garage doors and front door with a colour called purple martin and was planning on using some of the chips above inside. Inside the colour has the gray tone I'm seeing in my head and outside the colour is brown, according to the neighbours. My house is gray brick with white trim windows and black eavetrough and facings. Different times of the day it has my much wanted purple undershade.

It is just that I find that with the natural trim inside, I have to use dark shades for it to appeal to me. So I thought if anyone has pictures of their home, they might help.

Thanks, Linda

soshh, very nice. I like the colour and those chairs.
Thanks for the post. I look forward to seeing a picture of the room when you get it finished. I'm sure it will be amazing.

Thanks, any thoughts on the chandelier? (In the take me off the ledge thread.)

I am with you on the deep color thing. The woods to me, just wash out lighter colors, at least in my house with lots of windows.

Do you have pics of your rooms? If the grays are turning green it seems you have a lot of natural light as well.

I guess it depends on whether you want your lighting to be the focal point. I prefer the drum shade with your decor. But I am not really very good at decorating. Sorry I can't anymore help.

Here are some pictures from the left is what I have now. The one on the right is just to show the light coming in from the garden doors. It is the same colour as in the first picture on the left.

Hey Misty! I would love to see more pictures from people with wood trim too. I have just started thinking about painting the interior of my house and I have to admit I am stumped because I never had a house with stained trim. I loved the white trim in my last house it was so easy to work with!

boopadaboo, I can't wait to see what you do in your new place. Your last place, you did an amazing job! I often think of your staircase with the white and black.
It appears that there are not too many people that have pine trim that haven't painted it out. Maybe someday I'll paint ours but not yet.

Since there aren't a lot of replies to this thread, tell me about your place or better yet, post some pictures. I am sure it is a really beauty.

    Good to hear from you,
    Take care

:) My last place was kind of easy to do a good job with. I am really nervous about this one. I actually have walnut trim everywhere including doors. Walnut floors are going to replace the indoor carpeting and horrible tile in a week or so.

I hope all is well with you Linda. I love seeing the new colors you come up with. You have such a flare with color.

This is all I have so far.

My dining room was just painted BM Chelsea Gray. It's a deep, Battleship Gray but I kind of like it!

The living room is BM Quarry Rock and it's similar depth to the gray above, but has a sort of murky ocean blue-green undertone.

I almost painted the LR SW Ruskin Room Green, but in the end decided it needed to be different (so I chose Quarry Rock).

Your rooms are gorgeous Sossh. Absolutely love them! I think my problem is I am trying to find a new style for my new house. I had it all worked out in the last one and that was the first house I had ever decorated. This one is so different!

I always tell people it is easier than dusting. lol

I'll make a deal with you. You come paint my trim & I'll come dust yours. I despise painting trim and that was on today's to do list.

boopadaboo, Thanks, but I don't think I have a flair for colour. It is always so painful when I have to think of what colour to paint next. Usually after I have painted, I am already thinking of the next time and colour to paint.

Soshh, I really like that battleship gray. I did try gray on one wall but it looked so blue. I already bought gallons of paint in the "Night Owl", "Purple Martin" and I think I might even have a gallon of "Flock of Ducks" but I do like that gray.

marti, I don't paint trim, that, I have to dust.I find that when you paint with dark colours, the dust shows up very quickly. I think it is because I am always mopping the walls, that I get tired of the paint colour fast and I get bored real fast or I just like to paint.lol

Misty, that battleship gray color, BM Kendall Charcoal does show up bluer than I thought. If you don't want it to look blue, find a gray with more taupe undertones (or green, but I think you said you don't like green).
