A couple yrs ago someone posted a link to a website to purchase 5 mag subscriptions for $19. Anyone remember that website? Need to order subscriptions for Christmas gifts.

I'm not familiar with the web site you're referring to, but I've been buying magazine subscriptions for years from Discount Magazines. Many of their subscriptions are $5.95, and their other prices are very competitive.

I've ordered at least four different mags from them, and they have never put me on an automatic renewal list or overcharged my credit card or anything else you hear about with some web sites. The web site is well organized, and it's easy to enter a different mailing address for each subscription.

Here is a link that might be useful: Discount Magazines

We use Delta Publishing. They have great prices!

    Thank you!

I let all my subscriptions lapse so I googled Delta to find the website and a whole bunch of negative comments were online. Seems most people didn't receive their subscriptions this year.

I also looked at the Discount Mag. site and it seems fine except it takes three months to get your subscription!

I have been getting free magazine subscriptions for quite a while now. I get them by saving points from coca-cola products and redeeming them on mycokerewards.com. I get Country Living, House Beautiful, Good Housekeeping, O, O at Home, Traditional Home, Sports Illustrated and Smart Money (for DH). I always have something to read!

There ya go, Soshh. I'm one of them. I keep forgetting to dig up who I ordered $70 worth of those cheap $5 magazines from, cause I never received them! That was through the link that was posted back when. What I did get was a bunch of magazines sending me bills, though, and for the regular prices. I hate getting mixed up in those rackets that waste so much time trying to figure out or get resolved.

I've used Mags on the Net for a few years and not had a problem -- it's not as good a deal as the above sites but it's significantly less than going through the magazines themselves!

Be very careful where you order your magazines from. They will steal your money. It happened to me from two magazine companies. I now keep a file specifically for magazines. When I get the bill, I write how much I paid, when I paid it, the check number etc. Then when I get the renewal offer, I check to see what and when I paid last year. For instance, one billed me $15 more than I paid last year. I went on their website, canceled the renewal, then reordered a subscription at the amount I paid last year and checked that it was a renewal. This takes a lot of time but if you don't pay attention to these companies, they will rip you off. And the example I gave above was directly from the magazine company. Not a fly by night ebay company. So be careful.

I just ordered a bunch from Discount Magazines. I decided the wait time was fine with me...once winter comes I'll have a bunch of mags to enjoy.

I really like Elle Decor and Metropolitan home and those are usually not so cheap, so those plus a bunch between the $6 and $13 range and I am set!

I also had taken a Time Magazine offer from The Company Store when I ordered some bedding (nice products). Forgot all about it and never received the magazines. Later I noticed it on my cc bill and found they had charged me something like $70/yr for something like three years. I don't like the automatic renewals, either. I just don't want to have to babysit all that stuff. And make sure I get/find the little reminder postcard in the mail ... I did start putting it on my pc calendar alerts though and finally just cancelled everything.

I've noticed recently, when making purchases in brick & mortar stores, that I'm finding frequent mistakes. Like I buy something that says there's a sale, get home, and see they actually charged the full price. Or that I was charged a different price. Something else happened recently but I can't recall, but I was being charged too much again. Starting to feel intentional, say, with all the high gas prices or something.

I've used Mags4Cheap.com and have been very satisfied with their service. They're not the least expensive online outlet, but they do deliver what they promise to.

Something similar to what Redsox describes happened to me and that's why I let them lapse. I was getting one magazine, then one day get an email from Hearst offering me all these others for only $8 for the year. I took advantage of the offer but the following year the prices were at least 4x the price and renewed automatically on my Amex. I disputed the charges and called the number on the bill to cancel, and it was a horrible automated system. I finally cancelled, but it took months and they only credited me for the mags I didn't receive (between my cancellation and when it was processed I received a mag.). Taught me!

That's why I just stay away from that stuff anymore. It usually seems to end up in some time-consuming, round and around frustrating thing. And I've got enough stuff to keep track of. You really do have to watch them. I usually just leaf through mags when I'm at the store to see if there's anything I'm interested in and must have or remember! I also don't throw magazines out : )

magsforless.com and magsonthenet.com are the two magazine companies that I paid and did not receive my order. I fought with them for a couple of years but got nothing in return. I used to get a subscription from Lucky magazine and decided not to renew it this year. After several months, I was getting threatening letters from a collection agency saying I owed them money. I finally called Lucky magazine and asked what was going on. They said I was on automatic renewal and didn't pay for it. Well I don't know how that could be true if I always paid with a check. How is that automatic renewal? They told me they would close my account at my request. Seriously, these companies are outright obnoxious.
