Anyone order wooden shutters & wooden blinds on line??

We are building a new cedar shake cape cottage style home.

I have seen several houses like this with half shutters in their windows and wooden mini blinds.

Has anyone ordered on line and had good luck and good priceing? I think I want wooden white 1" slats, on the blinds, and in my kitchen I want white wooden shutters half way up from the bottom with a valance across the top. In the master bath I have a large oversized window over the whirlpool and thought wooden shutters again half way up would look good there. Any pictures or advice? And where did you get yours. Thanks,

I've ordered from Smith & Noble on many occasions and have always been pleased with their service and products to include shutters and wood blinds.

Just today I ordered from Blindsgalore.com for the first time because I want shutters for my guest bedroom NOW and they have the best deal going --- through tomorrow, sale 5% off + 20% discount. Time will tell if I can recommend them though. I don't think their site is as user friendly as S&N but it was easy to use nonetheless.

    My advise:

    1. Read everything about how to measure and options. Then measure at least three (3) times before ordering because there are no refunds.

    2. Never pay full price/shipping. There are always discounts to be had!

    Best of luck, Laura

I just ordered some wooden blinds from American Blinds (decoratetoday.com). I've been ordering from them for years. I compared prices in the beginning, but it's been awhile since I've done so.

Blindsgalore follow up: My $700+ shutters are the wrong size, configuration, and hinge color. I'm always transferred to someone's voice mail and my messages go unanswered when I call blindsgalore, even when I ask to speak with someone in authority. They've ignored my requests for a return authorization, so I've filed an inquiry with AMEX. What a nightmare!

P.S. I need my guest room shutters before Thanksgiving, so I've reordered through Smith & Noble. Yes, it costs more but I've learned it's well worth it.

I've used Star Decorating for Hunter Doublas Country Woods blinds - good prices and very nice people to deal with. I've also purchased their own brand white wood blinds for a laundry room and garage apartment and am very impressed with the quality (as good as the Levelor or Hunter Douglas standard wood blinds).

Here is a link that might be useful: Star Decorating.

We've used Smith & Noble many times and have been very pleased. As was mentioned previously, just make sure you read ALL the directions!

I just had my first experience with Smith & Noble and was very happy with the results. Not necessarily the cheapest (though I didn't shop around too much, since their price was well within my estimate), but very high quality and a perfect fit. I have 2" wood blinds, painted Navajo white.

FWIW, I have wooden blinds for the living room on order with islandblinds.com - someone on this forum recommended them, can't remember who though - and they had the best price by over a hundred bucks (which is pretty significant on a At the previous house I used Penneys for blinds - they had some very good sales going on and so had the best price at that time. We were quite happy with the quality of their 1" house brand blinds.
