Vertical Board and Batten on a Cape Cod?

I have a basic Levittown-style Cape Cod that needs new siding. For kicks, I was toying with the idea of vertical board and batten cedar siding, so I searched all my go-to design sites for examples. I could not find a single Cape Cod with vert board and batten.

Is there a good reason for this? Is this BAD idea? Would it create some sort of mongrel eyesore? I'm looking for a sanity check and would welcome design opinions regarding board and batten on this style house.

Thanks for the feedback, it looks like it might just work. I guess I try to make some renderings and explore the idea a bit more.

I grew up in a 1954 Cape Cod and have family on the Cape. Shingle!

I have a very long Cape Cod--most of it is cedar siding, but an addition has board and batten. I have to say I'm not enamoured with the look of all B&B--kind of the shed out-back look....

My other house is a tiny CC, built in 1954... your basic 1 1/2 stories with two little dormers. It has vertical B&B and I like it. It feels like it adds a bit of height. The peaks are tongue and groove, but I always wanted to shingle them, just never got around to it.

I like the idea, but why use cedar when it can be created using Hardy Board especially if you want it in a color?
