    jencox,

Check out ebay. There are all kinds of inexpensive rugs for sale there - just watch out for the shipping charges. Some of the sellers sell the rugs for almost nothing, but then they get you on the shipping charges. So long as you know that going in, you can get some real bargains.

    Good luck.

Try Overstock. I'm not sure which size you need. Search under Contemporary. There are several rugs in a similar color palate and geometric patterns. Their shipping is $2.95 and you can usually find a 10% coupon online.

I love that rug!! Thanks for posting it :o)

The rug is polypropylene, if you have no problem with that for the price. I think you should check E-Bay. You can get some good buys there. Otherwise, have you checked Home Depot?

Not to sound dumb, but what is "polypropylene" and is it not good for a rug?? Cheap quality??

Home Decorators Outlet would be another place to look.

I did a search on polypropylene and did not find an answer to jencox's question above. I would also like to know the answer if anyone could jump in here. Thanks!

Polypropylene is basically recycled soda bottles.

You can't get much cheaper than that type of rug.

They are actually very durable in terms of not absorbing stains and for a quick hosing off, but lack definition in design clarity.

I have a few rugs that are polypropylene and I think that they have held up very well, and are very comfortable to walk on. I agree that the designs aren't as crisp as on my wool rugs but until I compared, I never really thought about it.

I've seen styles like that on RugsDirect. That one looks very familiar. May very well be the same rug/price though. Try searching their site on "Transitional" or "Contemporary."

Thanks for the answers about polypropylene. That's helpful to know.

    Just reread by comment

"You can't get much cheaper than that type of rug.

and hope it didn't sound flip. To clarify, I should have said they are one of the least expensive rugs already on the market.

A high number of ploypro. rugs come into my shop these days for cleaning. They are actually a very good choice for people with pets. I included the category in an article I wrote about using recycled products to make rugs. The link is below if anyone needs a quick reference guide.

    I didn't think it sounded Flip, Tryin : )

Good to hear they are do-able rugs. I would have thought not and that they'd have bad chemical odors involved.

There are some very pretty rugs of polypropylene but what I found that I was not sure how to handle was absorption of odors. I had one in the laundry room and one in the kitchen area. I understood in a small area like the kitchen where there is a lot of foot traffic, food odors and fairly confined by cabinets, that odors could trap in the rug but my laundry room is quite large as far as laundry rooms go and not a lot of traffic (at the time no cats or dogs and no children) just me doing a load of laundry or so a day and ironing for a couple hours in that room once or twice per week) but nothing that should have caused a rug to gather odors and yet the rug had such an odor we had to throw the two of them away. My gardener thought they smelled so bad, even he did not want to take a chance on taking them home and he is usually all up for anything I am going to toss.

Does it have a latex backing? What was the odor like?

    How old is the rug?
