Where have you put a triple dresser besides the bedroom?

Did you paint it or leave it natural wood?

We have one in the walkway of the Gentleman's Parlor. I'm working on refinishing it. I've yet found or made the time to stain it.

This AMAZING piece could be used in dining room as a buffet. Or a large hallway as an entrance piece. It can also be used as base for shelving above, such as a library type look with short shelves placed on the top around 54 to 56" height.

    Beautiful piece!

We use one as a sofa table in the library. We did not paint it. It is a lovely piece of pecan with mahogany and rosewood inlays. It fits with the rest of the decor. We appreciate the extra enclosed storage.

I've also seen them used as consoles for entryways or buffet servers in dining rooms. I guess it depends in the height, but ours would be a little short for a buffet server (3-5 inches too short I think)

Mary Ruth, were you talking about my piece or did your picture not load?

Marti, we also have a six drawer dresser in our main entry. I love using dressers and chests of drawers around our home for extra storage. I use them allot for seasonal storage.

Wow I only saw one photo. But this one is nice too.... I do like to see dressers used in different ways, makes a home more interesting! Thanks for your response!

I don't have a triple dresser, but I ended up using my bedroom furniture as media storage in our LR/FR (we only have one living space). Bedroom furniture is from the 50s and the buffet is from the 60s.

Things have changed since this photo, TV especially! But we store CDs, DVDs and games in the drawers.

This buffet moved to the dining room, but it was a great height for the old TV. The drawers were too small for CD and DVD storage, which is why we changed.

Thanks, you all have some nice dressers. Mine looks pretty bedroom-y, but I was thinking of putting it in the living room or foyer. I hadn't thought about sofa table, I'll check the height for that possibility.

Marti I think you'll be surprised how different a dresser can look when put in another setting. Be sure to share photos.

Agree that dressers can be used successfully almost anywhere in a home. If I had a large enough bathroom, I would have one in there. Try it and see how you like it for a few days. Then let us know please. Good luck.

Not a triple dresser, but this old mahogany dresser got a new life as a buffet in our dining room. I store my many placemats, napkin rings, etc. in the drawers. During dinner parties and big holiday dinners, the glass covered top is great for holding platters of food, etc. Her sister piece, an upright chest of drawers is on the other side of our dining room and holds candles, candleholders, tablecloths and runners.

That piece is gorgeous Lynn. I think the older ones are a little more versatile than mid 70's type.

My SIL and daughter have one of his grandmothers in their breakfast room. The piece was stripped and has a lovely patina. Not sure of the wood.

UPDATE: Oh wait, scratch what I said. That's a buffet with shortened legs, not a triple dresser. blush

Daughter and SIL's triple dresser is sitting in my basement along with several other pieces they decided they have no room for.

I had a stained French style dresser in the garage for about 5 years, and I could never part with as I was sure I would someday find a space for it. That was 5 years ago when I built a home and knew it would work as a buffet in the DR. I first painted it, adding a little stenciling, leaving the stained top since it matched the table/chairs. It's big enough, serves it's purpose, and doesn't take up as much space as a hutch.

I remember when you found those beautiful pieces Lynn.
That's a beautiful buffet Newhomebuilder. I wonder if it's pecan? So nice that's been kept in it's natural state and not painted like so many buffets from that era.

Here is a picture of ours when we had a small apartment. It held a lot of dvd's and grandkid's toys.

newhomebuilder, that buffet is gorgeous. Do you know how they shortened the legs?

natesgran, your dresser looks a lot like mine but mine just has a single door in the middle and my drawers are bigger. I was thinking of putting dh's shoes and socks in them.
