A Woman Walks Into A Yard Sale....

This is not a joke - it just happened to me today on the way home from DS1's soccer game. Yard Sale signs everywhere. DS talks me into doing some yard saling instead of house work stuff.

This is very similar to what I walked away w/ (except mine has cutout ornate floral metal work w/ crystals in the bands, more lights and is larger :o) I also have to put many of the crystals back on but who cares?!

for $10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so jealous! Lucky for you - what a prize.

It reminds me of a few yrs ago when I found a tiered wedding cake chandy - still makes me happy - but your price is crazy amazing!

    SCORE.

No way!! Were you in the Sellwood area or Lake O? Dang, woman, I need to go yard saling with you !

That is awesome! Can't wait to see it installed ;)

    Oh...my...gosh! Crazy awesome deal T!

The chandelier is nice, but I want to hear more about a SON who wants to go garage saling!!!!

Fly lives near me, sorry! But yeah...your son goes saleing too?? Great kid!

Now that's a find! I have been searching for a chandy for our showroom for months. You've given me hope that I can find one I can afford!!

I almost fell over when I saw it. Most of the stuff being sold was country kitch including lamps and stuff. I overheard the lady say to her friend "Some man said I should take the chandelier to an antique store." so I casually looked around some more and I saw it on the driveway hidden behind something else. I expected the price to be $75-100. I didn't take my eyes off of it when I asked her:
    "How much for the chandelier?"
    "$10"
    "SOLD!"

Never once did my eyes leave the chandie.

Her DH carried it to the van for me.

As for the DS1 that likes yard saling? What can I say - He earns his own money amd knows that he can get toys cheap at yard sales instead of the toy store. He also really likes used toys because he says that they were loved and played w/ before so they must be special.

Invariably he will always pick a yard sale or The Dollar Store over a toy store and is always tremendously generous w/ his money and buying things for his friends and siblings.

    Today $26 bought us:

    1. An almost brand new Lightening McQueen bike w/ training wheels for $5 for DS2 (found and pointed out by DS1) who wanted to buy it for him so they could ride together.

    2. Costume stuff (again found by DS1) for his costume for his Mad Scientist costume

    3. 3 other toys (found by DS1 for his brother and sister)

    4. 3 Beanie Babies

    5. The chandie

    Not a bad day!

Not sure how I accidently posted the same thing twice so far apart :O/

    WOW!

That chandie is a gift, because you've raised such an amazing boy. Good for you!

Can't wait to see pics of it all hung and polished. Oh, and if you need to replace any of the wires for the crystals, go to the craft store and buy beading head pins and a pair of wire snips. You can get them in any finish, and they're much less pricey than the pins sold in lighting shops.

Wow, ttodd, today was your day!

Trailrunner, I am sorry to hear your DS is having tough times.

I'm hoping that I have enough ceiling space to hang it in our bedroom. I'm thinking pale grey walls, bright white trim and mid-grey ceiling like some of the rooms downstairs.
