Can someone help me choose a Back splash? new kitchen remodel

When you've narrowed it down, order samples from them or from a local tile store. I like the backsplash to go all the way to the ceiling [we don't have high ceiling or crown molding]. As far as having the crown molding go over the backsplash, you could have a 'rabbit' cut in the edge of the crown molding so it fits over the edge of the tile. A 'rabbit' is a square cut like half of the groove in a tongue and groove locking pieces of wood. We are just finishing our backsplash, and since it goes around the window, my husband is cutting rabbits in the trim boards so they will sit snug against the tile without rocking giving the appearance that the tile is under the trim....See MoreWanted: Back-splash colors and ideas for my new kitchen in Florida
Comments (24)Statement Tile in Seattle carries a wide variety of marble tiles. They can easily ship anywhere the tile and samples to you. Marble tile is very porous, so make sure you seal the tile with a 15 to 20 year penetrating sealer to help prevent stains. Also consider Laticrete Spectralock Epoxy Grout, which never needs sealing, it is resistant to stains, it will not mild or mildew and doesn't chip out like you old grout. For more information regarding this check out my houzz page/ in my ideabook. Here are some other ideas with marble tiles. If you combined 3x6 marble tiles in a subway look and then mix them with other trims or decorative listello liners, this will give you a more timeless look. Just laying plain subway tiles has ran it's course and will end up looking dated in a short while, according to several of my design industry magazines articles....See Morecovering kitchen back splash (4') with white full back splash
Comments (4)Can you send a close up shot of the countertop where it meets the backsplash? To do it with ease your going to need a oscillating tool with a plunge cut blade to do the job and depending how they adhered it is the key!, You may want pull a snap blade down the top and bottom to cut away the silicone first, a flexible metal drywall knife 3" may also work by pushing it down thru along the whole top, you will be able to gauge how much your getting through, if you can get most of the blade through, it should come off with ease just don't force it, you can put something a bit sturdier like a small 2" flat pry bar down the back pull back and outward gently. Start at one end and keep using the knife and finish (flat) pry bar along till it frees up, just takes some patience. If you find its still not coming which I'm sure it will, try brushing some paint thinner, methyl hydrate down the top or silicone remover and let it sit a half hourr or so then try again. you will need a thinner of some sort to remove the residual caulking anyhow from the top I use a razor and small spot of Xylene on a rag for fast removal but this will damage some finishes if you don't know what your doing. take caution, test a spot and keep the can away from all finishes. Good Luck...See Moreglass panel kitchen backsplash versus glass tile kitchen backsplash
Comments (8)You definitely want tempered/toughen glass particularly over the stove area & some type of fire resistant wall/boarding behind that particular wall. Look at tempered or laminate glass, measure at least 5-6 times including spaces between electrical outlets unless you have the company do all of it for you. Areas not close to heat you can get regular glass with a MM of at least 6 or 1/4 in thickness but 3/8th inch or 10MM better. Good luck!...See Moresandra12
