Need Lampshade Fitter advice

I can't believe this tiny, inexpensive desk lamp is causing me so much trouble!

Below is a link for how to choose the right lamp shade.

I have a small desk lamp and I want to buy a new shade for it. It's the standard bell shape shade that's on there now, all of 7.5" high. I want the same shape, just a different color.

It has a "Uno" fitter, the one where the lightbulb holds the shade in place, as shown in the link below.

I want a certain color lampshade and they're hard to find with the Uno fitter.

So my question is this. Can a clip-on shade (where it clips on the lightbulb) work on this lamp? There are more clip-on's than Uno's.

So paint your shade. I had two shades I wanted in white . Found right size wrong color. 99 cents lured me in. Latex paint to the rescue. They turned out great. They are also about the same size as the shades you are looking for and having the lights turned on did not bother the paint. Been a few years now.

I just bought the proper light fitting yesterday for a vintage lamp and the electric guy had to go digging in the back. They do not make the lamp fittings with screw threads on them any more so do not toss yours.

    Excuse my supervisor.

You did a great job on the shade! Lovely kitty too. :)

This lamp is only a year old, I bought it at Walmart. Are you talking about the same Uno fitting when you say "Screw threads?"

I'd paint but I want a checkered lamp shade. And I don't do checks. lol

I basically need to know if a regular ole' clip-on would work? Surely they would.

I won't throw away the shade though.

That is odd the screw on shades are coming back when you can not buy the new replacement sockets.

The old floor lamps usually had those uno fitter shades. It is good to know new ones are available as mine are really pretty raggity. I hope if you find them you will share the source.

Black and white check sounds great. Would be very hard to paint. I could do it in glass easier then painting it.

Abby is pretty but she is crazy as can be. We had her spayed in March and I think menopause is hitting her really hard. She is not very nice to be around lately. LOL At least she is acting how I felt when I was doing the menopause thing. Hehehehehe Right now she is biting the couch. I KNOW that feeling.

Can you show a picture of your lamp.

And that pretty kitty just took down a one foot plant pot in the living room. Sigh. Big time mess. BRAT.

I might take a picture later. But does anyone know if a clip-on shade can be put on the lamp?

I don't see why not because even if the thread is there below the bulb, it doesn't effect the lamp if I had a clip on. Right?

Have any of you had one kind of shade and replaced it with a clip-on?

Yes, you can use a clip-on shade. You'll probably have better luck finding a clip-on in that size, too.

Here's a link to some adaptors...

I've ordered from Fenchelshades.com to get sizes I can't find anywhere. It's fun to buy lamps at consignment shops, etc., but I think lampshade replacements are one of the most difficult things to find!

(Not spam) Just trying to give you some sources for lampshades that have helped me.

Yes, a clip on shade can be put on a lamp that originally had a uno shade! I have done it many times....at this moment I have 4 lamps that came with various shades and now have clip on shades. I even own clip on adaptors in case the shade I want doesn't have it's own ;^)

Came across this site for shades when looking for something else. Might help you. Hope it is ok to post the link. I am not affiliated with this site.
