Sweet deal!
Comments (62)@CHLOEBUD and @PRINTESA--- I have Le Creuset from 35+ years ago and still going strong! I don't like the newer stuff so I snap up what I can find of the old at sales etc. IF it is REALLY cruddy--oven cleaner. I got a whole SET inc the big stew pot the small stew pot and several handled pieces and lids for $10 at a sale--the color was grey which didn't thrill me but my son was HAPPY to have them! I have two of the large stew pots--one I got for 50 CENTS at a fund raiser sale as it was deemed too cruddy to sell. It has raised "grill" lines on the bottom--I have never seen another one like it. All of the ones I have kept are flame. My son has an odd assortment of whatever mom found at sales over the years--I had a cedar chest I filled with this stuff for my kids. Just be aware---if you drop them--they can crack. Don't ask how I know this! And yes the Co did replace the pot. I recently picked up a vintage classic Dansk red enamel rectangular baker that I thought I might sell. My daughter didn't realize that and used it and we liked it a lot and it fits in my convection oven when little ELSE does apparently! Guess we are keeping that! The LAST thing I need is to go buy MORE cookware!!!!! But few things I own FIT in that oven! Excuses, excuses!!!!!!...See Moredow do i deal with this bowling alley wall and this picture?!
Comments (88)Just curious - what's on the wall opposite the windows where I see the yellow ceramic seat? I too have a long room and have "squared" it up by placing a focal point in the form of a side board with art and accessories on the short wall of the rectangle. A sectional lounge suite is difficult in these areas as placement is limited. I found that a smaller 3-seater sofa with occasional arm chairs allowed more flexibility. I was wondering if you removed the unit where the tv is, mounted the tv on the wall opposite the windows, had a smaller sofa placed across the windows but forward to allow access and a couple of occasional chairs with a coffee table in the middle to make a 3-sided conversation area. Good idea above to move the sideboard out of the dining area and into the lounge area as suggested above especially as there would be more space with the tv unit removed. PS I love the artwork you purchased. Anyway it's all food for thought!...See MoreHow to best deal with prominent railings in split level home
Comments (40)I completely understand the desire to keep it open between the kitchen and lower level because you want to keep the sight lines and feeling--but perhaps you should just "try" closing it off and see how it feels. We are prepping for a remodel and I have been using my kids roll of art paper and taping it to the ceiling to construct mock ups of potential walls. I am often surprised at how it feels to open/close off certain areas. Not always as expected. p.s. Emily Henderson has a white metal railing in her split level home that is pretty gorgeous and widely photographed. You should look it up....See Morewhy is my gray green paint looking like mint ice cream at night?
Comments (16)Sea Haze is showing blue undertones (on my monitor). That blue/gray is staying true in daylight...the night colour (artificial lighting = light bulbs) is showing green. Ipso facto...it is the articial lighting (the light bulbs) that are changing your colour. Gray is tricky like this...that's why a paint swatch on the wall that is seen through several changes of day/lighting changes is well worth the extra effort. Anyway. Try visiting a lighting store to ask what bulbs you can purchase ($45 worth of replacement bulbs = cheaper than a new paint job) that will keep the "true" daytime colour of the Sea Haze. Buy one or two to try out in a room (like a bathroom or a hallway) and give it a go. If the bulbs fix the problem then the fix = whole new set of bulbs for your home. Done....See Morechispa
