So OT...I may be booted from list

It's a Friday night...OKAY?? Hubby is at lake house that is our kitchen remodel venture that brought me to this list. I say "ME" cause hubby ain't ever been here, BUT he does appreciate the wisdom I have gained from this site. BIG SHOUT OUT to hubby! Oh, and I am not at lake house. I'm at main house sippin Chardonnay...drinkin again.

Now, back to the point. Ummmmm.....when the cat is away, the mouse will play. Is that how that goes?? Anyhoo, do you prefer blonds or brunettes? I'll have to say I've ALWAYS loved the dark and handsome type. Maybe that makes sense cause I was born a redhead...later in life was a strawberry blond, and now my hair has curiously turned white? I think I've always been attracted to dark types because I am light. But, I was just watching this TV program where Daryl Hall was singing. You know, from the duo "Daryl Hall and John Oates" that was so popular in the 80's? Maybe you don't. Anyhoo again, he is a light/semi redhead type and he sure looks goooooood to me. woooooooooooo! Then I got to thinkin about my cabinet choice in this vein/vain? Cabinets I'm getting for this kitchen are creamy with a rust glaze.....sorta like Daryl Hall. woooooooooooo! The majority of my other kitchen cabs I've chosen over the years have been light/white colors, as well. I've never had a tall, dark and handsome type cabinet which I generally would prefer in my mens. Hubby is tall dark......and skinny. Two outa three ain't bad! He is quite the antitheis of me. I am average height, light, and fat. But still, seems like I prefer me some cabs that are more like myself...light with rust glaze and many imperfections. That seems to be exactly what I've gotten with this latest kitchen remodel. Any one else out there wanting to confess their cabinet choices that might conflict with their "love" choices?

    HA HAHAHAHHA!

You're a hoot! I can't think of how DH (high-school sweethearts, so I suppose he = love life) is like my cabinets.... AHA! I went into both totally blind, with no clue what was coming, and then, BAM! Sucked in for life. :)

    Bartender....I'll have whatever she's having!

lmao ok how many chardonays have you had?

    well i've had some 8 oxycodin things...so i'll bite:

lets see i have tall dark and handsome in the master bath for dh and i (he's handsome, dark and closer to the ground than a tall guy would be)

my kitchens are tall blonde (natural cherry) and handsome....as was my starter husband. i hope the cabinets work out better than he did.

in the powder room i went for s hort dark and squatty....gad that is kind of scary..

and in the family bath i have short, auburn, aged and redicously expensive....which isn't a bad description of me now a days :oP

Look, I will just say Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp ok?? 'cause I just can't figure out what my tall painted cabs indicate. and oh yeah, Bono, he is more my age and I'll take him. ;)
    pour me another please. Sue

I'm getting a rum and diet soda.... my cabinets that I'm "almost done with" (after three years worth of crap) are as imperfect as life. And you know what? They look like nothing you'd buy in the store, but they are smooth as silk and feel oh, so comfortable. Like a cool, smooth, rum'N'soda. Gosh, I'm glad I glanced at GW tonight.

Booted off? YOU? Nadachance. THIS IS what these boards are here for: honest support. ;)

ig: starter husband??? LMAO!! Yeah, I had one of those, too. Learned a lot; moved on...

I didn't replace any cabinets, so can't make any comparisons.

Johnny and Edgar Winter...the albino brothers. They are the dead ringers for my DH and his brother. And they are musicians too. My cabs are all tall and white...with lots of glass "class" ...just like DH. :)

ooooooooooo, one more confession before my bed and bye bye time. I also wuv dat very white haired Michael McDonald...former singer with the Doobie Brothers. I don't know what his original hair color was.....it's always seemed to be white. I don't care if was lavender originally, or if it turns out to be peridot in the future. I luv, luv, luv his voice! He could be my ultimate cabinet inspiration guy.

    nite nite all

    Too funny!

Oh, MAN!! A "room" full of drunk housewives!! I've died and gone to HEAVEN!!

    :-)

Hmmmm. As I age and my own hair color evaporates from a warm brown to an off-white salt & pepper I find myself newly drawn to bald men.

Funny how my maple cabinets have just recently been replaced by all ivory with black countertops.

Curious analogy, thanks for the morning smile.

    Hahahah! Great musings, Pupwhipped.

My medium cherry cabinets are classic looking, lots of character and detail, and look like they've been around for a while. Kinda like George Clooney.

P.S. I had so much Chard last night I just came up to bed and crashed! It was a Rombauer from Napa and we just couldn't stop.

I only got to breath the fumes at the restaurant as I was working for DS1 and DIL and then got home and saw this thread. Very very good pup .

Sorry Bill :). DH is in Italy for 9 days livin' it up with 3 1/2 hr dinners and local wines in Tuscany. So I will watch this thread and fantasize ! c

I was giggling about this one on my morning run. That popular white-cabs-dark-countertops look isn't a man with salt & pepper hair, he's a man in a TUX! And I suppose that AB granite = shiny, new, and young; soapstone = been around the block but still really smooth; artificial countertop = you don't mind the rug and the fake teeth; concrete countertop = hottie HD sales clerk, until you realize he's really flakey & cracked up inside!

I already know I like men with blue eyes, and I might get blue knobs for my cabinets...hmmm.

Funny thread! And my main kitchen cabinets ARE like my DH -- sturdy, rustic and masculine - knotty alder with a natural stain. My china hutch and prep island are more like me -- painted and distressed!

First off - cheers to the fellow Rombauer fan! Yum, yum.

My current kitchen is 'Joe Dirt' for those of you who have seen the movie. The design, like the mullet, should have been incinerated before ever taking actual form.

My dream kitchen is total Carter Oosterhouse. Tall, sleek, dark, subtle cabinets with countertops you literally can't stop running your hands over. The only upgrade would be if the cabinets could speak - with a voice like Anthony Hopkins.

My 'probable' kitchen... Appliances that will last forever and cabinets that aren't quite to the ceiling (dh is just 1 inch taller than me, not the 6'3" I'd prefer) but incredibly durable. Very efficient, reliable and consistent. Kind of like having George (light eyes/medium/dark hair) from Grey's Anatomy when you drool over Dempsey (killer eyes/bedroom hair.)

pupwhipped - from a fellow redhead - yep, it is a redhead thing - liking the dark/handsome ones.

Gee! when I look at all of your posts, I guess mine say I'v done it all and now it's all out in the open. Also painted a mellon green for all the beauty and caring I have seen in all the pic's and posts .

I just came to this forum from the Bath forum (finished my master bath- about to embark on kitchen remodel) and all I have to say is, gee, Bill Vincent really IS everywhere! And now I know why...

My current kitchen is nothing I would have ever picked and doesn't have much relationship to anything I find beautiful.

My new kitchen will actually be very much like my DH of 16 years. Casual, warm, a little beat-up looking but in a lived in and lovely way, classic, off-beat. I will have shaker cabinets, soapstone counters, 60 year old hardwood floors, clean lines, and no fuss looks. Something funky in a subtle way for knobs or somewhere because we like a little quirky without it jumping out at you.

DH is dark and classic, but extremely casual. Like, way extreme. You know those doctors who wear suits and ties? he's not one of them; he goes to work in quirky hard to find t-shirts with clever sayings on them and hair like Kramer from Seinfeld. But whatever, gotta love him. He's like soapstone; warm, not sleek, all genuine, everything rolls off of him, and just a little brush-up and looks spectacular.

    Pupwhipped, gotta love GardenWeb!

well..uhhhh...well, I been laying a little low since my wine induced post from Friday night. Do you ever wake up the next day and think, "oh, I know better then to post anything after two glasses of wine"? At the very least, wait till the next morning to decide whether to hit the send button or not. geeeeez!

Also, I did not post a follow up yesterday cause my head was HURTING. I think you get my drift. Worse then that, I had to drive three hours to lake house yesterday with my head HURTING. But, all's well that ends well, I guess. My head no longer hurts, tall, dark and skinny hubby was glad to see me, and the near fatal car crash I averted yesterday by running off the road (even with me head HURTING) after other idiot driver crossed the center line was a good thing. And then today, after I lost my mind and let my two cairn terriers out on the deck forgetting to make sure the doggy gate was in place...that endend well, only by the GRACE of GOD, with me finding them wandering (but in one piece) on the street rather then smushed in a greasy spot. I was consumed with studying my bathroom that is the next remodel adVENTURE we have to look forward to. That's why I was not focused on my babies. Thank you God for helping the stupids like me.

Lastly, I got a big kick out of all your responses to my question. Too funny. I'm glad that many of you got a kick out of my question/wino rambling. And Bill Vincent, I was pleased to see that you are not ALL ABOUT the tile. HA!!!

Forever your pupwhipped, but no longer winewhipped
