Kraftmaid Maple Cinnamon--with what granite?

Hi all!

We are on the brink--we have Bruce wood floors throughout the whole main level in buttorscotch. I origanally chose a darker cabinet to contrast, but they looked very flat against the warmth of the floor. So we finally went with Kraftmaid Cinnamon, in Maple.

Now to choose the granite. Went to the granite yard the other day, and I am really torn between a light color, like Colonial Gold, which would provide some contrast, and brighten up the feel of the room, or a rich brown, like cocina's amazing Juparana Persa Brown, or Namib Typhoon.

Any thoughts?

Do you have pics of the floor and cab? I don't know what the butterscotch floor looks like.

from the sounds of it all, I'd take the counter surface to a lighter intensity look...still have choices, no doubt. Sounds nice with those rich medium browns- a lighter shade will make them more noticeable...

We just installed cinnamon maple cabs, with natural red oak flooring. We went with a lighter granite to brighten up, ours is called Golden Valley. I'm really happy with it!

We will have similar colors to yours:
    --Bruce hardwood in butterscotch,
--custom maple cabinets with a teak stain (looks like light cherry).
The floors are a little lighter than the cabinets, but in the same color family -- both warm.
The granites we are leaning towards are Typhoon Bordeaux and Sienna Bordeaux, maybe Yellow River. I definitely want something lighter than cabinets -- but not too light. I think a creamy background will be good, with warm tones to accent cabinet/floor colors. Of course, different yards will have different names for their granite patterns, which makes it all the more confusing!

Here is a link that might be useful: Typhoon Bordeaux

kngwd--those are the door pulls I picked out! Too funny!

Typhoon Bordeaux was on my "to see" list when we went to look at the slabs, and there wasn't any around. Our GC said that's the way it is, more comes in later....

    Anyway, that link is beautiful.

wish I could figure out how to post pictures!!

We just put in Kraftmaid Maple Cabinets in Cinnamon and TODAY the granite was put in - We went with crema bordeaux and even the installer (which he probably says to all his customers) said how well the countertops complimented the cabinets. We put in oil rubbed bronze pulls and faucet with a Blanco cafe brown sink. We have put in a lighter ceramic floor with darker grout.

I am normally not a dark colored person but the shine on the granite and with the color variations I am THRILLED!!

I saw some pictures on another site with Crema Bordeaux...very nice.

My GC says that Cinnamon is "hard to match." Huh?

Yes, someone, do tell us newbies how to post pix!

Mine are cherry. But cinnamon or brandy - i can't remember!

Anyway - I have Golden Crema, aka Crema Romanzo, aka Delicatus Cream/Gold, whatever... names of these things are so inconsistent.

To post your pics - open an acct at photobucket.com. Once you have the pictures in there, when you click on the picture you'll see little boxes below. Copy the 3rd one down, it says something like "html". Then paste that into your message here. It will just look like jumbled lettering until you hit "preview message", then you should see the picture.

Do you have windows in the kitchen, lots of light???
Or is the space heavy? What style are you going for
something warm cozy, farm friendly, English provicial, coastal or maybe urban? What other colors are you using
in the space? Do you like drama or simplicity?
    Pattern, movement or solid colors?
There are as many granites as there are ideas to
    design.
    What do you love???
Not sure? No worries, I have a few ideas but give me
some ideas of which you like or not and I can try to
    find more suggestions.

Hey Boxer--lovely pix. My favorite granite was the Mascarello. Golden Crema looks really nice, too.

    To answer your questions...

Do you have windows in the kitchen, lots of light???

We have one window, above the sink, and the lighting will be replaced, as it is now a fluorescent box on the ceiling--yuck! We'll put in cans, as well as pendants above the island, and under cabinet lights.

Or is the space heavy? Not sure...

What style are you going for--traditional/old world

What other colors are you using
in the space? we have stainless steel, and the walls are painted a dep Ming red, with white accents. If we found a "perfect" granite, and it didn't agree with red, I am willing to sacrific my red walls (sniff!)

Do you like drama or simplicity? The simplicity of elegance. Nothing fussy.

Pattern, movement or solid colors? In the granite, I would like to see movement, not specks.

    Take Care,

    Hi Laura,

I am off to the office but as soon as I return this
afternoon I will find search for some ideas.

    I LOVE RED too.
We can find some fun ideas. My instinct says go lighter
even though you like the old world look. Lighter
can really marry well with the rich red walls but lets
not rush this. I will search for some fun ideas when
    I return.

    TGIF.
