Where to find cabinet door strips with hooks??? for back of doors

I am looking for something I know I have seen on Gardenweb, but cannot now find.

I am looking for strips which come with hooks. The strips are fastened to the back of cabinet doors. I want to store silicone pot lids (that I use constantly) close to the microwave. They are too floppy to put in a rack, but could hang on the back of the sink cabinet.

And I know me. I'll end up hanging other stuff, too.

Can someone please tell me where these can be found and what the heck they are called? I've searched and searched without any luck.

(I did see the very nice ones melaska made and posted. That may be the way to go.)

Is this what you mean? I just called them key hooks.

Here is a link that might be useful: small hooks

I saw Melaska's thread, so I know you are talking about something else entirely. I see that she gave you the info you were looking for. Happy shopping! :)

Thanks, Shelayne. These do look sort of like what I want, but I am really looking for metal, pre-made strips intended for the backs of kitchen cabinet doors. I am certain I have seen them in posts here. They are screwed to the back of cabinet doors at the edges, and the hooks are spaced across them.

If no one can help me find what I may have dreamed I saw, I will use adhesive backed metal hooks with a transparent mount. But, darn it, I usually can find something if I search a bit, but no luck on this.

You didn't dream it, Bellsmom. I posted on it or meant to because my mom had her measuring spoons and cups inside her doors since back in the 50's. The strips came with the cups and spoons, though. I tried looking for the thread and didn't find it by looking through the threads. I forgot how to search with google. But it wasn't too long ago. Someone will find it for you, I'm sure.

What Melaska shows is a piece of thick lath (molding department at any lumber store) - it's thick for lath - about 1/4" thick. It's painted and is screwed into the thick part of the door. It has cup hooks screwed in - cup hooks come from the hardware department in packs of 30-100 hooks.

Be careful that what you want to hang doesn't cross in front of a shelf.

    Thanks melaska, bmore and gardenpea.

Melaska, I responded to you on your post. Thanks again for posting such a neat idea.

Gardenpea, I really appreciate your assurance that I didn't dream the metal strips. I've sure looked everywhere with every search term I can think of to no avail. (I remember the little strips that came with measuring cups, by the way.)

Bmore, I saw Melaska's thread, too. The idea of using paint stirrers for strips was especially cool. I do think cup hooks would be a bit difficult to hang some things on when they are mounted on a vertical surface, although they can be rebent if needed. Anyway, what I am looking for is a commercial stainless steel strip with hooks pre mounted on it.

But what I have just about decided to use are these:

They are cheap, transparent, easily positioned and easily removeable. They don't harm the surface, and the small ones hold up to 1/2 pound. The metal hooks could, I think, be rebent if I need a slightly wider hook. These may be even better than the strips.

But, darn it, I still would like to find the posting that showed the strips that Gardenpea and I remember. I have searched with every combination of key words on every search engine I usually use to no avail.

Maybe someone will still come up with them.

    Thanks,

This hook rack from Crate and Barrel is pretty neat, and you might be able to mount it the way you described if you're willing to do some cutting/drilling. (I'm not handy, so I don't know how realistic this is.)

Also, containerstore.com has some hook racks that might work for you. Good luck!

I was poking around and found a couple things. Don't know if these would help.

Also just wanted to make sure you all know that the idea I posted wasn't mine - I got it from Lifehacker :)

Where else except GW would I find people who would help with such a request? I really appreciate those of you who have found possibles.

Fouram, thank you for the C&B listing. Nice sleek design, but too narrow for what I want on a 20" cab door.

Iroll, these were fun to look at. Most of them are also too narrow, requiring mounting to the center panel instead of the rails or whatever they are called on my shaker style doors.

Here's a quick photoshop mockup of what I'd like to do:

Sorry I misunderstood originally that you were posting images from another site. You DID say it clearly. I just didn't read it carefully.

You know, those grids might be useful on the back of some cabinet doors. Flexible, changeable, removable. Hmmmm. A whole new dimension of something to consider.
    Thanks for the idea.

One of my personal pet peeves is measuring spoons and cups getting lost in drawers - or jamming up in the back of the drawer. I splurged several years ago and bought these for myself and my sister - they come with either pewter or wood hanging hooks. You can see both on this link:

I went to the website of the manufacturer and they sell the display options separately.

    Here's a link

Here's one that is 18 inches wide; kinda pricey, though:

Bellsmom...no problem! I do that, too. I'm interested in that Container Store grid system, too. Good for office wall use & garage, too.

Be sure & let us see what you end up with!

Here's a pic of a cherry strip from the site that Steph gave: (they also have pewter strips of all kinds)

Steph - I really like the ones you found on the link you gave...especially the cherry strips. Thanks!

I agree with Melaska. The cups and strips on the site you listed are really kitchen jewelry. I liked the cherry strip you posted. Here, for others who may not yet have seen the site, is another one I really like, along with its cups:

Those bamboo strips are too short, but, my they would be lovely.

Iroll, the one you linked to is long enough, but it is pretty heavy at 18'' by maybe 2.5''. But it is one to file away for future reference.

Thanks, everyone. And, Melaska, I will post a pic of whatever I finally do. I REALLy want those silicone lids hung right by the microwave.

Yes, they are fun, aren't they? And so convenient. I went with the salmon motif, as a brief nod to the state I live in. Better than most tourist gifts - and totally justified as a present for my sister. Now that I think about it, I think I broke down and bought them as a treat to myself when I decided to start measuring my portions. (I'm good at justifying!)

I've had them out mounted on a wall - but want to find a way to tuck them away in a cupboard in my next kitchen, I think. Another dilemma for another day... back to staring at layouts. lol
