oil rubbed bronze fixtures?

Hi there,

Am finding these forums immensely helpful as we navigate our renovation!

So - my husband and I would like oil rubbed bronze sink faucets (prep and main) and cabinet pulls but am unsure how it will look with a stainless steel refrigerator. The fridge will be cabinet depth, but not built-in, and we do not want the expense of doing a paneled fridge.

Other appliance/color details: dishwasher is also SS but it will be tucked under an island and not very visible except from the work area. Range will be the new AGA Pro+ in a cream color, range hood in matching cream, cabinets in off-white, island in rainforest green marble, and perimeter countertops in mahogany. Both sinks will be undermount in white cast-iron.

I think that the oil-rubbed bronze finish for the faucets would complement the wood countertops and a reddish-brown vein running through our marble slab, but am just really concerned about these clashing with a ss fridge.

Anyone have pics of a mix like this? Help! Thanks!

No pics yet -- 'cause we're not quite done -- but I have the same mix of faucet and hardware (ORB) and fridge and ovens (SS), and it doesn't clash in my eyes: and I'm usually someone who likes things matchy-matchy (tho I'm trying to get over it -- my DD, age 16, is "helping" me with my recovery).

Thanks clergychick. I've been looking in magazines and the only time I see the ORB faucet/hardware the kitchen seems to have paneled appliances. Glad that you are doing a similar mix that we are considering. Would love to see a picture when you have one available.

Too funny that your 16yo is helping you recover from the matchy-match pattern. My 2yo and 4yo are still in the "everything MUST match or we will cry" stage. :)

If you haven't already, i would scroll through the finished kitchen blog and look at pictures of finished kitchens. I'm sure that mix exists. I know of one kitchen with ORB hardware and stainless appliances is jbrodie.

I am doing ORB hardware and faucets and stainless appliances. I definitely think that will look wonderful.

I also don't have pictures yet b/c I'm in the middle of the kitchen renovation, but I will have stainless steel appliances, cherry cabs with a finish of autumn (brown with expresso glaze) and Kashmir gold granite...and will be using a oil rubbed bronze faucet and hot water dispenser.

I have ORB faucets and hardware with a SS refrigerator, Sharp microwave drawer, double ovens and Wolf rangetop. I'm not done yet though!

My fridge is paneled, but we have a SS range across from the ORB faucet. Also have ORB finished fixtures in the house. Some of our bathrooms have BN faucets (MBath and powder room have ORB). Copper in the kitchen, great room and laundry room. The mix doesn't bother me.

We have ORB faucets and pulls, a 42" counter depth SS fridge and a SS range. It looks fine. Sorry, I am technologically challenged and haven't gotten up the nerve to try posting photos....

I think Americans are overly-concerned with matching. There is no reason you cannot mix metals, especially when the kitchen overall is relatively neutral.

    Good luck!

So here's a question -- Can I have Polished Nickel fixtures but ORB cabinet pulls? My outer cabinets will be white while my island is dark espresso stain with dark wood floors.

My neighbor just redid her kitchen and has ORB faucet, hardware and lighting with SS appliances and I think it looks fine. I didn't even notice that the finishes didn't match until she pointed it out.

Wow, it never occured to me that I couldn't have ORB fixtures with my SS fridge/DW/Ovens.... I'm glad that your responses have been positive! :-)
