'Why Blue is Better than Not-Blue' -- sneak preview PIX!!!

Coming soon, within about 2 weeks to a multiplex near me, a Finished Kitchen! I'm waiting on knobs & pulls for about 1/3 of the kitchen and some odds & ends of trim. In the meantime, here's a few pix of half the kitchen. I'm not taking pix of drawers with ugly holes drilled in them :)

This is my baking center:

Basket for bread, onions & garlic, and such, with more too-cute knobs:

Another view of the island and baking center:

    It looks great.

Wow,Bluekit. That's one good looking kitchen you've got going there! And the island is really special. Can't wait to see it all finished. (When you come back with the finish photos, do include close-ups of those knobs). You go!

It's really beautiful, blue...really, really beautiful! Enjoy.

Grrr! I'm so envious of that baking center! Great kitchen, Blue. And that granite is so pretty.

Congratulations, blue, and enjoy! Great job!

It's lovely! I took my DD to the fabricators to place our deposit and he had a similar granite to your standing by the door. She went wild over it. I had to admit, that's one fantastic piece of rock!

I'm not a baker...but maybe with a set up like that!

    Really beautiful...congratulations!

are you in blue heaven? It's gorgeous :) now hurry up and finish so we can see it all!!!

In my next life, I'm getting blue granite just like yours. Great job!

I might need blue granite in this life. I'm torn between the Yellow River I've seen posted on this and the blue macabus and ones like it. Would both look horrible together? Then can I use marble too? And I might want a little bit of soaptstone? How about a patchwork counter will everything I love and to suit each mood!

Very nice BlueKitObsessed! The mixed cabinets and granite go very well together! And you have baskets! (I couldn't find room for them)

Very homey, bluekitobsessed. You did a great job of having a bunch of blue, but not making it too overpowering. What a striking granite, too!

OMG, I LOVE your island so much! You must be in 7th/Blue Heaven! What is your granite? Nice job.

That granite is stunning, bluekit! I can totally understand the obsession!!!!

    Nice cabinets, too. ;-)

    GREAT job!!!

I love the way your granite flows on the island--like a blue river or sand dunes. It reminds me of Scenic Jasper, only blue. Do you stand in front of it and see a landscape? How gorgeous!

And it looks like you've chosen some adorable hardware. What are those shapes? Two of them look like teapots!

That's not so much a blue kitchen as a blue feature, and the granite is lovely. I might look for that type when/if we ever get around to doing our bathroom. it's looking great!

Your granite is gooorgeous! And your island is the perfect way to feature it. We need details on your hardware.(closeup pics too) It looks like you went the i-chic route with lots of fun shapes. I love that whimsical look, especially on an island.

Your kitchen looks so soft and serene. I love your blue!

Boy, what a gorgeous stone! The way you've used colors and finishes is very nice. This should give others some good ideas.

Everything is "blue-tiful". Looking forward to more pixs.

Congratulations, Blue! It's gorgeous! The baking center is awesome!

Bluekit: What a beautiful kitchen! You must be so happy. It's very warm and inviting. It makes me feel like I want a warm chocolate chip cookie from your oven!

Oh my, I love it so much! My husband and I decided against blue (even though we LOVE blue) because we didn't want to overdo it. Your kitchen definitely makes me wish we hadn't gone so neutral.

    Beautiful.

Thank you all! Here's a couple more pix I took this AM in different lighting:

I posted separately on the knobs to answer the not-so-FAQs.
Remodelfla, as a quilter in my spare time, I like the patchwork idea! :)

That granite is spectacular!!! Also love the fun knobs on the island - the perfect touch! Just wondering: how do you like the Thermador range? I'm looking at a 30" Pro-Harmony on Ebay for our beach condo: it would provide a flush fit and I love the blue knobs!

P.S. I'm a quilter as well and also a hooker (as in hooked rugs).

WOW! What a stunning kitchen! I love your baking center and the granite looks beautiful! The island looks like it will be perfect functionality for baking and everything else. Great job!

Just stunning, Blue, that's my favorite granite, what is it called? Also love your overhead lights and white subway tiles (I chose light green subway tiles for my kitchen). You kitchen has a real vintage charm, what a happy space!

Go blue! From one blue lover to another -- you got it right! Can't wait to see more! Enjoy, it looks like a wonderful space!

Gorgeous kitchen! I have to fess up and admit I am kitchen stalker...I have loved seeing your choices come together and waited anxiously for ever more update pics! I just love your granite and how the stainless looks with the blue and white and how the maple warms everything up. Great job!
