I think if you were to have all the floors refinished, they could match a new floor to your existing. Have some good hardwood flooring companies come out and advise you. Personally, I would stay away from any dark floor, it will show everything.

I think, too, the dark color would be harder to keep clean. What about doing similar color, but in a different size? That way it looks not like you tried to match? Your floors are so beautiful. So much character.

I know this post is 9 years (!) old but I’m having the same dilemma. We also have maple hardwood in our 75 year old house and they look very similar to yours. @kruegesm curious what you went with and how you like it today?
