My 99% finished kitchen - play kitchen for DD - that is...

Well, I'm no where near finishing my kitchen. But during nap times I managed to paint a play kitchen that I found at a garage sale for a fantastic price of $20. This has been painted in between trying to keep up with GW, priming and painting my trim in my house, and repainting the orange kitchen walls that I painted orange because of my lack of original judgment. :) You'll see those in the pictures below.

Around here, one doesn't wonder where the name repaintingagain comes from.

So since it will be months until my kitchen is done, just for fun - here is the play kitchen I put together for my daughter. It was scrubbed, sanded, primed and painted. I might have been more excited about this then my own kitchen! :-)

Details:

Counters and overall color: BM Simply White

Shelf color: BM Dill Pickle

Appliance "hardware": Doorbell push buttons from Lowes

Labels on Dishwasher: lovingly printed by Grandpa

Sink: Tupperware, awaiting the perfect sized stainless steel pet bowl, I have yet to find

Knobs and pulls: Folk Art Acrylic Metallic paint

Freezer door: Chalkboard paint

Still missing: faucet (working on that one, but thinking of using a stainless steel soap dispenser push top - Grandma's idea)

Knobs - want to find something fun that will turn

Nevertheless, my little 20 month old is thrilled and doesn't notice that it is only 99% finished. And we can now bake together.

Total cost approx. $65

Now that is a budget redo! If only I could do my kitchen on that budget. :-)

OMG this is adorable. You really got creative with this! I still remember my DD's look on the Christmas morning when Santa had brought her a kitchen too - around 2 yrs old.
Here's wishing you both many happy memories baking and playing together.

Oh thank you for the kind words. I can not tell you what joy this brought me. There is nothing like the way I feel about my daughter. I can't wait to fill up my house with more children!

This brought me complete happiness painting this and attempting to be creative with it. It only painting my trim and doors in my house, made me feel the same way....

Aw, that is is just wonderful. I definitely know that joy you feel. I had a really great afternoon yesterday, painting with my 5-year-old son while the older kids were away at camp. We painted wooden magazine holders from Ikea and a big wooden letter D (for David) to hang on his wall. He worked so earnestly and it was so much fun to watch him choose his colors, etc.

Thanks for sharing, and nice job on the little kitchen!

You must have had such fun. The doorbell push buttons on the diswasher are fantastic - how creative! I've not seen better in the stores. Imagination is wonderful. My 2 kids are grown and I await grandchildren with impatience.

Wow! that's nicer than my current kitchen! I'm sure you'll both have lots of fun with it.

Oh, that is too cute:) Isn't it so wonderful to have the joy of doing things for our children??!! You will both love it!!

I have to second, third, fourth, what everyone else said. I loooooove that kitchen. It is so adorable. You can tell just by looking at it the love you have for your daughter. It's terrifically fantastic.

That is the cutest kitchen I have ever seen. I LOVE the doorbell dishwasher buttons, too! I had a friend who made a hand painted stove for my daughter when she was about a year old (my daughter, not the friend!) and my daughter loved it and played with it forever. You are a great mom! (Love the Dill Pickle color, too!)

Oh, thank you again for all of your kind words. It makes me feel so good all over again. Truly, you are all so nice to share in my happiness with this project.

I had so much fun making several trips to Lowes to figure out what we could use. I was so excited when I found the doorbell buttons. Great price and kids always love things to press. I can't wait until I figure out the knobs for the stove. I know my daughter will enjoy turning those, too.

Thanks again everyone! This made my day to have fun sharing.

As a little girl, this would have been my dream kitchen!! What a wonderful idea and I love the chalkboard paint. Your daughter will have a ball in that kitchen.

What a fun, creative mommy you are!! I'm sure you'll find those knobs too. And I don't see bad judgment in those burnt orange walls. I am right now drooling over a design mag kitchen with similar walls, cream cabs, dark island with Bianco Antico top, mahogany perimeter counter and marble tiles. Just gorgeous.
