Help with Green Paint for Little Girls Room (pic)

Hi all,

My little girl would like a green room. After looking at numerous bedding options, she chose the bedding in the picture below. Her bed is an off-white sleigh. The room faces north but there is a sky light and a large window that allows plenty of light. Could someone suggest a nice green to go along with this bedding? I know I could have it colored matched, but thought I would pass it by you guys first. Thanks so much!

Bring the pillow to the Depot. I know I have Behr color samples in the shade that I'm thinking about but they are in the attic. Are you up for a two toned room or one color? Will you be painting molding as well?

    Hi Roselvr,

Thanks for your response. I didn't think of a two-toned room, that is definitely a thought. Were you thinking pink and green? The moldings in this room are all BM dove white (a bit brighter than her furniture). The room is longer than it is wide with tall slopping ceilings. It has character but is very small. I'm afraid that the color on the pillow might make the room appear dark even with the lighting?

What about doing stripes in the green and off white? Then just use some pink accessories. About what green....look at Benjamin Moore Soft Fern, and Benjamin Moore Grecian Green to start. I'm sure others will give other suggestions. You can get some idea what these look like at
    the link below

I just did my daughter's room in very similar bedding and we used BM's fernwood green.

Precious Jasper at Home Depot. It's a lovely soft green that goes with just about anything.

my daughters room is decorated in pink and green.

Accents are done in porter paint cany green and pink is snap pink. The green may be a little to vivid for your comforter and sheets. Not sure

I love the items you have chosen and would definitely do the room in green. I know you cannot tell from the charts at www.colorcharts.org, because they are all so skewed, but a great green I think would be SW's Sawdust.

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions. Please keep them coming!

yiannab, thanks for sharing the myperfectcolor web site. Unfortunately, on my monitor the greens are looking brown. I'll take another look when I get to work tomorrow and see if there is a difference.

budge1, I'll take a look at the fernwood green at our local BM store.

sippimom, that's a goregous green you posted. I think it might be a little dark for her room though.

dinobambino, your daughter's room is darling. I love the little window seat. Did you stamp the pink design on it?

patricia43, I haven't looked at any SW paints in a long time. I'll have to check that out.

I think I'm going to opt for the easy way out and only do one color in the room. It literally took my husband and I two entire days to scrape the border and wall paper off her walls. We prepped her walls appropriately before we put it up--I'm not sure why it was so darn hard to get off!

I have similar pottery barn bedding in my little girls room. Take a look at BM HC-119 Kittery Point Green. Nice green that is not too dark...

Chrissay, it's really not a dark color. I wish I could get a good picture of it during the day in natural light. We just painted one wall with this color - instead of having a whole room that was green. It really made the white trim pop and was more of a "fun" look. The other three are white with white trim. This was my daughter's room earlier and that one wall used to be painted a brighter lime green, which we accented with a bright linens that had lime green, hot pink, purple, orange, and yellow flowers on them.

Lovely bedding!!! My dd's room is a very nice soft green from HD - it's the disney Behr called Christopher Robin's Swing. It looks very similar to the green in your bedding. Good luck!!

The bedding she chose is great -- she's going to have such a nice room! There's still a little girl in me that wants a room like that!

Definitely try the BM Soft Fern - it's a pretty shade of green which should look great with your decor. I have it in my daughter's room - sorry I don't have a picture.

I used BM's Pale Sea Mist in my daughter's room. It's cheery and coordinates perfectly with Pottery Barn's little girl quilts and bedding. It's a great color to go with any shade of pink, her favorite color! Everyone loves it. Grab a chip of it and hold it up to that bedding, that's what I did! Good luck...

Here's a couple pictures of the Pale Sea Mist... please excuse the mess and the temporary blinds, we just moved in! The light isn't that good today since it's rainy... the color is a little brighter than it shows here, and not so yellowy. But very pretty.

    Hope that helps!

I painted my daughter's room with Laura Ashley Apple 2 (1 or 2??) I loved it so much that I later painted my kitchen the same color. It is TRULY the prettiest & "feel good" color that I've ever seen. As soon as you walk into my daughter's room, you just feel peaceful and happy.

I actually had the Depot color match the LA color in their Behr paint - since my husband prefers their paint... Sometimes you have to get creative and white out or cover up the name on back of the color sample since they have agreements with those other paint co's.... but if they don't know it, they'll do it - a HD employee gave me that tip!!

    Good luck!

Here is BM Georgian Green, which on my monitor seems to go with your bedding choice.

Is that Pottery Barn Kids bedding? I have PBK bedding in my DDs room and painted the room SW Shagreen and I think it's a pretty good match. I bought some sheers to go over the windows and I LOVE the color. I thought it might be bright and loud but it's really not.

I don't have any great pictures of the room but here are a couple. The lamp in the background of the first pic is from PBK and I think the greens match pretty perfectly.

The color that I'm thinking about is similar to the post above me, maybe a tad lighter. If you were up to doing a two tone, I wouldn't use pink, but two shades of green. I also like the idea of an accent wall, depending on the room. For the accent wall, I like the BM Georgian Green that was posted. From what I can see on my monitor, looks like a great accent color.

Another tip, I usually paint a piece of white poster board. I do little squares, a 2x2 inch piece so that I can take it to the Depot for them to color match. Once they do that, you just take the lid back, they will match using the numbers. I then keep a database on my computer with the paint mix formula.

If this is pottery barn fabric, can you get the BM swatches they make? I'm sure I've seen this on their website or catalog (PB).

Wow, such beautiful greens--thanks for all your pictures and comments. There are so many possibiilties and so many greens, yikes!

I will take pictures of the room tonight, in it's stripped down version. We finally finished taking the wallpaper off last night and my husband will patch the gouges I made in the sheet rock. Maybe an accent wall would look nice? I'll be back with pics tomorrow.

Erin ga: Love your little girl's expression on her face as she does her puzzle--too cute!

Oh, I forgot to mention, the bedding is Pottery Barn. I think it's called Ava?

I've posted some pictures below of my daughter's bedroom in it's current stripped down state. As you can see, the room is really tiny. It was hard to take a picture that accurately reflects the room. The first picture shows how narrow and NOT very wide the room is. I think the only option for a accent wall is the window wall? I thought of putting her bed on the wall to the right of where the headboard is now to make more room (so her bed goes along the side of the window). Her dresser will be on the left wall below the sky light/light fixture and a book case on the right wall? Any comments/suggestions would be great!

This light fixture will be replaced!

erin_ga, your daughter is adorable! I was just thinking today how quickly they grow up, and this thread has a lump in my throat...*sigh*

I wanted to share this link which shows some very pretty greens in real rooms:
