Perfect timing! Over the years I inherited very old jugs & crocks. Some are all cream, some two toned, some are round and open at the top.

I have a rock mantel which is hard to decorate. I put the old crocks and jugs up there, all the same color, and it was the prettiest thing I'd done. Christmas decor is up now and I left one crock on it with silver sprays in it mixed white branches. I cut the branches and sprayed them myself.

I also have a large collection of old medicine bottles. Natal showed me a way to use them on the kitchen windowsill. I'd put one cut flower in each jar sitting in a row. You can even use silk flowers.

Or just an arrangement on a shelf would look nice.

I'm amused by the bottle marked "Myrrh". Surely you could use THAT bottle in a holiday display?

If you don't like the pharmacy bottles, maybe you could put them on ebay.

I did a search and found one old myrrh bottle that sold for $10, and it wasn't as nice as yours.

Whether those crocks are in demand depends, I think, on location. I'm sure they do have some demand in some places altho the current economy has impacted that. The bottles would have value due to their age and the fact they have labels. Please protect the labels to keep the value.

What I would do with them in my decor with the bottles is to group them together in an old tool tote or on a tray. I might use a silver tray for that rustic and refined look. If you use them in your Christmas decor just add a few evergreen sprigs to the grouping. Otherwise they could be grouped on your mantle but don't line them up like soldiers, group them randomly and overlapping possibly in groups of 3 or 5.

The crocks could be on the mantle or better still on the floor. Twigs or tall grasses can be displayed in the crocks. Keep the lids as they are worth more with lids than without. Is the lid on the first crock wooden? Interesting if it is altho it's not likely original but if old still has value. The obvious choice of what to display with the crocks would be other vintage/antique items altho you don't have to be restricted to that. A plant, trays, platters, or large plates, or a wood, metal, or leather box could work. Add some candlesticks and avoid small delicate items. Shop your house and try various things to see how they look.

I've used old crocks on my kitchen counter to hold utensils. Right now I have some in a kitchen cabinet that has glass doors. They are just grouped with other kitchen or pottery items with similar colors.

Lucky, I love the idea of putting the bottles on a tray. I may do that with mine!

Sue, crocks also look nice on the front porch. I keep mine out there all year, even in the dead of Winter because they can take freezing weather. But some of them will be coming back inside the house after Christmas to put back on the mantel.

They're pretty on a metal plant stand if you have one. However, they are on the country side of decorating, but I still think they could easily be icorporated inside or outside your home.

Grouping the bottles on a tray is an excellent idea.

People collect pottery and stoneware all the time and they do not have to be "country", especially the two wide-mouth crocks. I have the first wide mouth crock you posted with a simple arrangement of eucalyptus in it and it "sits" on the floor by my DR hutch.

Do you have a space on your kitchen counter where you could use a solid color crock as a utinsel holder? But, it might be too tall.

I am the Original Poster and I thank you for the encouragement to keep them and use them. Here is how we put them to use in our living room. I almost bought a glass tray to display the bottles but in the spirit of use-what-you-have decorating, they are on this side cabinet with no tray. The prettiest jug is on the mantle. Thank you for the inspiration!
