Please help me find fabric again.

Without going into details, I need help finding this fabric for my shower curtain. The back says, Marl Rubin Black and it's $15.00/yard from Nell Hill's. It's back ordered until January and we're not convinced it'll even be there then.

After my series of recent experiences with Nell Hill's, I'll never, E-V-E-R, have anything to do with them again.

It's the houndstooth.

Or a similar style houndstooth with brown. This has brown and black.

If you are in KC area, I suggest looking at Hobby Lobby, Calico Corners, Hancock at 95th and Metcalf. Also that place at 119th and Metcalf by JC Penney home-they have a bunch of fabrics there.

Would you consider this one instead? I really like it:

    high classic

    Or this one?

    elias plaid

I really like the first one Les linked. In fact, I like it better than the original as it also has a bit of olive/sage in it. As you know from this experience, the scale is very important so would be best to get a sample before ordering to make sure it coordinates with your floral fabric.

Personally, I'm not crazy about the high classic plaid, and the price of it makes it even less appealing. For what you need, that would end up being an expensive shower curtain! I think you could do better for less, and plan on looking locally to see if there's an alternative that would work for you. You might keep in mind, too, that nothing says you have to have a small glen plaid. That plaid isn't in use anywhere else in your room decor, so it's not as though it's an essential element.

Your main concern should be a fabric that would work well with the floral valence, and that's compatible with the colors of your bedroom ensemble. That opens up many different options for you.

I'm a little confused by your showing the bosporous toile in conjunction with the floral - did you plan on using the toile somewhere else in the bathroom?

Nanny I sent you an email earlier. The cost isn't much more than what I paid for the NH fabric. I really want to use a glen plaid style with the floral. The photo I posted is one I had on the computer and I just wanted to show a picture of the fabric. I did consider using the Bosporus in the bathroom at one time but I'm not.

Is your heart set on the plaid? The reason I ask, is because from a distance, you don't really see that it's a plaid because it is a small scale. It reads as a solid. Imagine that on a big expanse such as a shower curtain and it will look like beige fabric. That floral is so pretty, I would be tempted to use that as a shower curtain, but I know the price prevents you from doing that and unless you have a money tree out back, who wants to spend it on that? So, I would consider another fabric that will give you the wow and still continue the rustic elegance you are creating in your bedroom.

I am going to direct you again to the dunhill plaid at calico corners. I think it would be perfect with the floral! Add some fluffy linen colored towels...

Hey Kmcg! Thanks for the suggestion but I need to draw the line at $20ish for the fabric. The valance for the shower curtain is already made and has tassel trim. Just need to get fabric for the rest.

Not sure if you can use suiting for a shower curtain body.

Wanted to post them side by side.

The flowers aren't pink looking IRL more a burgundy red.

This last fabric you've shown is much the same texture and content as the original fabric from Nell Hill, Shesharee, yet with a much better price! I truly don''t feel that the original fabric is any better coordinated with that floral than this would be.....in other words, I think this plaid would work fine as a substitute for you if your hearts set on a glen plaid curtain. It has brown and red in it, as does the floral. I think this one is definitely worth looking in to, and has a price that makes it far more attractive.

Shee, I am betting that the last fabric has such a small repeat that you arenâÂÂt going to get the texture and interest that you want. It looks like the repeat in that is about 2.25 inches. The HighClassic I posted is something like a 4.5inch vertical repeat. I also like the High Classic better because it has some lighter color in it, which works well with the floral.

Les, I didn't think about the repeat. I'm a little concerned about the red colors since it's not a red, red in the floral. I would think even if it's not an exact matach, since it's not a lot, either would still coordinate.

Here's what the original fabric would've looked like.

This might help, this is where this curtain is going. I'll be making a valance out of the floral fabric for the window. I'm getting ready (today) to paint the vanity a dark chocolate brown (SW Woodsy Brown) like my stairs. The floor is gray. I don't like it and have been kind of ignoring it. Don't know how great of an idea that is. The feathers in the corner are gone. I will be painting and adding hardware.

Have you looked on Ebay? I used Glen Plaid Fabric as a search term and got a surprising number of hits.

I've decided I really should order some samples. My sister came over and reminded me if I just pick something to throw together quick without seeing it, I may not even like it once done. I will also order a sample of the one Kmcg linked to.
