Pulls Hair Out!!! Can someone pick a paint color for my cabinets!

I am beginning to believe I am losing my mind. It's only paint right? But, not really on your cabinets, it's not. It's a huge DIY job. So if you have any experience with Farrow & Ball paint colors, please chose one for me.

The island will be in Farrow & Ball light blue as pictured below. Note the add on cabinet will also be painted light blue

The choices are....:

1. F&B Shaded White

2. F&B Skimming Stone

3. F&B Cornforth White

Any help is appreciated in this matter so I can order the freaking paint already....

My countertops will be white carrera marble.

appliances stainless, floor is brick but a paver in earthy tones.

Have you test-swatched those three colors? It is really important with F&B to get the real paint and get it big. If you have done swatches, can you post pics?

I have been playing with F&B chips in my kitchen (just fantasizing!) and I can tell you that in a bright kitchen, those seemingly moody colors just wash out. You inspiration picture makes me wonder if you might need to go a little darker...

Another one to say get the actual sample pots of f & b paints. All the colours I've used have looked very different than I thought they would from the chips.

Are you really set on painting the add on cab next to the island? I think it will look great the colour it is once the other cabs are painted white. It would be nice to have a nice wood piece to warm things up.

Amysqr You would laugh hard if you saw my box full of sample cans, the test doors, the splotches on the walls, the painted 10x10 samples. I seriously need to learn to use photoshop. The colors are very moody. I am so worried with the number of cabinets all over the room I won't like whatever color. You are right inspiration is darker and more like F&B hardwick white which was my first choice but went green in my NE facing kitchen.

Budge1 good idea. I might just try that. I had considered it but wasn't sure. I probably will wait until they put the top on and paint everything else and then see. I'll post again for you to see then.

Kimmie, I would only laugh in a knowing way. 'Cause I been there darlin'!

I actually think the inspiration photo is Mouse's Back. But, I could be wrong. Of the three colors you are contemplating, I think I like Shaded White the best because it is more saturated (darker) than the other two and I think you need to lean darker. That is, unless your kitchen is a very low light situation...let's hope not for the sake of function.

Here's what I think...whatever color you pick, it's going to be gorgeous. That's just because every F&B color is gorgeous, in it's own way. Yes, you should find the one that doesn't throw green, or whatever other undertone you're looking to avoid. But aside from undertones, all the colors are special.

Amysrq you are right my inspiration photo is a lot darker. Mouse's Back in my kitchen looks like baby poo. I love the color though but, not in that room with that light. Hardwick White was pretty close too in my kitchen but, it went really khaki green and I was thinking it wouldn't blend with the Blue so I went down the lighter color path.

I have seen that kitchen picture everywhere on almost every blog I read. Everyone loves that kitchen I think because it represents a "real" kitchen makeover that we all can relate too. Because no matter how much I want my kitchen to look like the hundreds of inspiration pics I have, unless I start over and have tons of money, it won't ever be. But that pic gives you encouragement that you can make over existing not so special cabinets and make them look fabulous.

Thanks for the encouragement. You are right all the F&B colors are beautiful. I'm in love with that paint. I just painted my dining room walls, crown and base boards with Light Blue and it is gourgeous. The kitchen connects to it and that is why I pulled the light blue into the island.

If you have any other suggestions throw them my way since it sounds like you are a fellow F&B fan. I have most every color in a sample pot. And I don't feel one bit guilty about it because I have been using them to paint furniture with.

Man, the inspiration picture is gorgeous! What blog did you find it on?

Suggestions? No, I probably don't have any. Not for someone who has more sample pots than I do!

Oh...okay...what about Stony Ground? A little more saturated, a little less green. Or French Gray, green but still would work with the Light Blue. I don't have a problem with khaki green (Hardwick) and Light Blue, btw.

Honestly, if you go with Shaded White, you will have a lovely kitchen. Maybe not Baby Poo, but lovely nevertheless. ;-)

Have you looked at French Gray? It looks a bit like your inspiration pics, but lighter, from pics I've seen. In the last link (box) are a few shots of Allison's kitchen island.

Oh, and what is going on with your floor? Very nice! Please tell us what you've done there.

squirrelheaven. The floors are brick pavers that the PO put in when they added an addition that included the kitchen you are seeing. They are also in my LR and hallways. I like them. we use lots of brick in Louisiana to keep cool! They are hard on your feet though.

I have used all the above and my 1st choice would be shaded white.

Skimming stone is a grey cool tone color with a bit of lilac undertone -- it's a clean color & looks great in a modern urban setting (like a loft), I can see it paired with something like Elephant's Breath. In fact, if you put the 2 chips next to each other you can see the similarity in their undertone. I don't see it as being compatible to Light blue nor I think it would work in your kitchen, which reads to me as more rustic/traditional/farmhouse kinda kitchen.

Shaded white (and is lighter sister offwhite which is my favorite) is grey warm base color. It's very versatile & I think it would be the color that works with both the grey of your marble & the colors in your rustic brick floor.

Stonyground: t Darker than shaded white -- my only concern is that depending on your marble, it may not work as well. If your marble is very bright w/ lots of grey, stony ground can appear dirty/muddy & pink.

Hope this help! Your light & your surrounding may change how you perceive these colors too. F&B colors are all about the undertone & relativity -- by manipulating the surrounding colors, you can manipulate how the colors are perceived.
