Comments (12)I live somewhere "warm and colorful" - a little Caribbean island. In December we like to watch tourists. They are typically pasty white, with tan shorts and floral shirts (really folks). Oh and of course - sandals with....... socks!!! Big camera. And.... trying to look like they "fit in" with the locals. Oh boy, laughing just thinking of it! Anyway, keep coming folks, we love you!...See MoreKeeping the remodeling dust away from the rest of the house
Comments (3)Hi @tlckhc, dust is definitely hard to control during remodeling projects. To prevent dust from invading your living spaces, eliminating dust at the source is the best way to keep from inhaling these hazardous materials. Ask your contractor, if you are contacting a pro, about their dust control plan. Make sure they are a clean contractor, using preventative tools to make sure dust is contained or even eliminated. Here are a few questions to ask your contractor, that will help ensure that your dust is contained. Thanks tlckhc! Comments (6)Hi, The architect is correct with the timeframe. Expect delays. We are at the tail end of a major, all encompassing remodel, and it's been exactly 6 months. We were fortunate that we had another house to move into (alas in another state) to wait it out with our 2 dogs and a cat. I continued working remotely, my husband stayed at a friend's house in town, and commuted to see me. The challenge is finding anything affordable! It's easiest if you can move everything into storage and just leave it there, taking only the bare essentials and moving into furnished places. VRBO, and AirBnB will work for however long the owners will rent to you. The other choice would be to choose a Residence Inn or a ExecuStay --hotels set up for this. All of this gets extremely tiring. It's not easy not having your stuff, but when you see the mess and the constant dust --you'll be glad you got out of there...See Morenancyfay
