By the way, I am in love with the Pottery Barn Como Bench. It was sold out, but they just brought it back. I would love to make it work....but I just don't know

Black is a neutral and every room should have a touch of it. So now you have a touch :) You can choose to let that be it, or add more black, taking it from an accent color to a focal color.

Personally, I'd not add more black tables. I like the idea of it being a focal point. I also wouldn't buy a "set" of coffee and end tables....have some fun, look at beautiful oak pieces...they flow well with black and distressed.

I love that bench too. You could use it for a coffee table or, if you have a picture window or bow window, set it in front of that. I, also, like a more varied look in woods and interesting styles. What color wood is your floor, do you have a rug on it?
Back to the bench, I even like the black round tray on the bench with the candle arrangement to bounce the black around the room.
I have five different types of wood in my family room and I love it.

Thank you for your input everyone! I feel much better now about the woods to mix in. I don't like the thought of all black furniture. The como bench is on sale.....I may have to purchase it! yayagal, unfortunately, we have floor to floor carpet. In our area, it seems it is the norm to put that in the living areas. Of course, all of the shows and magazines have hardwood...I would love them! My husband thought it was weird to put hardwood in the living room....he wanted it to be cozy under the feet. That is how most people here think! One day I will have my way! Thanks again!
