Zodiac Bianco Carrara Quartz

We are getting close to picking out our countertops in our new build. Our cabinets are very dark (espresso), and I want to go light with the counters. I originally wanted to go with carrara marble, but after reading about the maintenance requirements, I want to go in another direction (we haven't started our family yet and will need countertops that will endure).

I saw some old topics on Bianco Carrara Quartz (the Zodiac collection by DuPont). Does anyone have this in their kitchen? I would love to see pictures and hear how you like it. I'm trying to decide between quartz or a light granite (our builder has an ivory white granite I am considering also).

Also take a look at a newer product - Cambria Torquay. I've looked at all the marble-ish quartz and that's the frontrunner for me. I ordered a 12"x12" sample from Cambria and it is truly lovely. It was about $23 including shipping and it was delivered very quickly.

Thanks mpagmom -- I checked out Torquay and it looks beautiful! Do you have any idea how it compares to other quartz's in terms of price? The price my builder gave me for the bianco carrara was $50/sq ft, which seems pretty reasonable.

Thanks for sharing the new Cambria Torquay, mpagmom. I just took a look at it online and it's really beautiful. Is it fairly natural looking in person?

Sorry I didn't see these questions before. I was told the Torquay would be about $70/sq. ft. With Cambria, most edges are included in the price, so if you wanted an ogee edge on your island, it might come out better than a lower-priced quartz.

It's hard to say if Torquay looks natural. It does not look at all plastic like many quartz countertops (and honestly even some polished granites) do. It does not look like real marble to me, but I'm sure it would fool a lot of people. It has a pretty subtle look.

By all means check it out in person if you can. My kitchen place has a full display of newer Cambria products now.

I also have a sample of the Torquay and the best looking "fake" I have found. I am strongly considering it for our perimeter countertops (island will be walnut) as it looks very realistic, even to me, a few feet away, and would fool all but true marble lovers close up.

I'm not a huge fan of marble (sorry - don't shoot me!) but I have seen both the Torquay and the Zodiaq in person. Quite frankly, I don't think either one really look like marble - but I think the Torquay had a nicer look than the BC.

However, by me, Cambria is the most expensive brand of quartz at around $80/sq ft. $50/sq ft for the BC is a pretty good price.

Chocolatebunny, did you see samples or entire countertops? I'm wondering what they look like from a distance. My feeling is that the Torquay is so subtle that it might read white.

A friend of mine has the BC in her master bath. It's a pretty long stretch of countertop with two sinks. I saw the Tourquay at a cabinet shop near me. They have a pretty large sample, although it's not an entire length of countertop. This particular store really pushes Cambria so the sample is probably 2ft x 2ft. From a distance it was very subtle. The store also has a lot of bright lights so it could have been washed out a bit from that too.
