SS vs. Chrome faucet Pros & Cons

Which do you prefer and why? I have all SS appliances and sink, I was wondering if a Chrome faucet would look weird?

Pics is you have any.

I don't think chrome would look weird. I got what is called Vibrant Stainless (Kohler) and the fingerprints bug me. But you probably know how to deal with that since you have stainless appliances (I don't).

I have ss appliances and a moen ss faucet that I hate the finish on. When we do our remodle I would like to replace it with a kohler pull down in chrome I like that finish better, but the KD advised a brushed nickel finish she thought the chrome was too shiny. The chrome finish is much cheaper than the brushed nickle and I'm not sure that I want to put the money in the finish especially since I do not like my stainless one. She also suggested a brushed chrome but I have never seen the finish and do not know the cost.

I seem to be posting about my faucet lately. I have the Delta Saxony in stainless, and I am not typically a big fan of stainless(except I do have a stainless sink)... and I find it looks great and wears great. No fingerprints, no smudges- I am not wiping it down as much as I did with its' chrome predecessor.Maybe it is the Delta stainless finish which is so good, and maybe other brands vary. I do think chrome goes totally fine with stainless, and if for some reason I had to replace my faucet, I would still probably go back and forth as I did originally with chrome and stainless. Bottom line lookswise, they both work well.

Like you, I too debated between chrome and SS. My appliances are white, but the sink is SS, the lights are SS and the cabinet hardware is SS. So when I went in search of a faucet, I was surprised to see how different the SS finishes were on different faucets. I ended up getting the Grohe Bridgeford in Satin Nickel mostly because I loved the look of the SS finish. I also found a faucet by Cifial that had a beautiful SS finish, but there was a 12 week wait time until delivery, so I didn't get it. I really love the Grohe. It shows no fingerprints or spots and always looks clean. I think it looks nice with my sink. I hope you can see it in the picture that I've linked below. I've yet to figure out how to get a picture on a post. Oh well....If you can't see the picture, go to the FKB and look at my kitchen. It's under the "M"s - Mountainbasketmaker! Good luck with your search!

I have all stainless appliances and a ss sink and chrome faucet. I love it. The chrome just a little shiny "bling" to the sink area. Remember, for decades people had SS sinks with chrome faucets. That was almost all there was.

jersydeb, I have the Floriano in chrome. You are really going to like it, I think. When my SIL saw my 75% finished kitchen for the first time, she kept touching it and said it was one of the things she liked best.

I have a SS range and refrigerator. My sink is the Shaw farmhouse and despite the cabinet people and GC automatically saying brushed nickel when I asked what finish to use I got the polished Chrome Perrin and Rowe bridge faucet and LOVE it. I agree that chrome gives a little bit of bling to the area. The rest of my finishes are a bit dull, the SS, honed marble backsplash and satin finished black cambrian granite so my next door neighbor was quite skeptical of my doing shiny faucets but one of the first things she said when she saw it all together was that I was right and she was wrong.
Bottom line, get what you like.

Chrome is and has been so popular and used with all colors and styles (yes for a long time chrome was pretty much all that was available) that it will not look out of place in any kitchen. In my case, my faucet finish was one of the few choices I didn't make--sort of. I was tired of kitchen decisions and the faucet I wanted was more expensive and would have taken longer to get in another finish so I just let it be chrome. In truth I didn't think it would be a problem...and it wasn't. If you don't like the look, by all means go with what you like.

Here's my (all chrome) faucets, soap dispensers etc. with the stainless microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator visible . The air gap is temporary.

If it was me, I won't match chrome faucet with a stainless steel kitchen sink. I will just buy a kitchen faucet made of stainless steel. This will help to maintain the kitchen theme. As well, I will enjoy the many advantages that are associated with the use of stainless steel faucets.
