I think you should insist on a new sink. I know how you feel about being worn down, but a sink isn't that expensive or difficult to install so it's not asking too much for them to replace it. Good luck!

Replace it. I've had my tub and sink refaced. Once you ding it again, the finish will start cracking and peeling like paint.

Replace it. Stephanie is right about it peeling and cracking. It will be too late by then for the contractor to do anything about it. Just don't worry about being difficult. Just say you know how sorry they are it happened. You really would like to help them out but the ding is their responsibility and you really do have to insist on a replacement sink. Tell them they can take the damaged one and repair it and possibly sell it on craigslist or donate it to HFH. G

Replacement, absolutely. This is a NEW house. Of course they'd like to use an inferior method, but they don't have a leg to stand on.

Thanks all. I did ask for the new sink. Project manager is extremely grumpy these last two days. Hard for me not to take it personally, but I will keep hanging tough... (sigh)

I'm proud of you for asking for a new sink. It is HARD, esp. for women, to be "difficult," and by "difficult" I really mean standing up for ourselves and getting what is rightfully ours.

A new sink in perfect condition is what is rightfully yours. Yea for you!

I also want to say I think you seem awfully considerate and thoughtful of those around you. While the PM may be grumpy, your kindness will come back to you in spades ....
