I really like white appliances, and used them without guilt in our last kitchen. I'll link my reveal below. We used appliances we found on craigslist. Our dw was a few years old when we got it and we used it for a couple of years before finishing the remodeling, our fridge was, um, older... and the stove was from 2011, but the woman who sold it to us used it for about 6 weeks before moving and putting it in storage for a season. So not new-new, but new enough for me. : )

Our price breakdowns were as follows:
DW $200
Fridge $200
Stove $800.

Holy cow, Laughable, your house is absolutely gorgeous! We had that exact sink with metal youngstown cabinets when we moved in and I could kick myself a thousand times for getting rid of them :( That was back when I was a nervous new mom with a house full of lead paint.

Yes those metal cabinets with the drainboard sinks are charming. I have to admit that we were pretty hard on the enamel finish though, and the former owners must have been, too. I adored the drainboards, but not trying to keep the sink portion looking nice. Bar Keeper's Friend was the only thing that kept it decent, and even then it seemed tough on it.

I about choked when I found out that the sink could have lead in it too. But then I decided we weren't going around licking it, so hey.

What I'm really trying to say is, enjoy your new sink! : )

Yes, the exposed beam was absolutely structural. We had to jack up the house after we moved in, and when we did so, we watched the areas where it was pegged together (that had come loose as the house sagged) go back together tightly again. Whoa.

I really like white appliances, especially the enamel finish sort opposed to the pebble finish. Emily Henderson has white appliances in her kitchen, which I think is lovely.

Would the GE Artistry series work for you? It's more 50's/60's looking, but they are a great price for vintage looking appliances.
