It WILL work okay, but somebody conned you so they wouldn't have to order it. It does come in unsanded, as well.

Actually, You'd be better off with the sanded caulk. I said what I said above more for the benefit of others who may go looking for unsanded caulking in the future and read this thread. The same rule oif thumb about when to use sanded and unsanded grout does NOT allpy to caulking. ALthough you CAN use an unsanded caulking if you wish, the whole point to having the two types of caulk is to match the grout as closely as possible, and the sanded caulking, in this case, would do a better job of that. I'd stick with what you have.

I did go back and get the unsanded caulk, as I made the spacing 1/16th .(unsanded is correct for that spacing, right?)...should I go and search for unsanded caulk to match? I am so glad you never get tired of these questions from us amateurs!

good luck, ofg. i think it is great that you can do this yourself! i will most likely have someone do mine who's done nice work for neighbors, but not sure he knows the ins and outs of sanded/unsanded and the like. so i really appreciate these threads; i'm soaking up all the info! btw, what are the pros/cons of clear vs matching grout. i'm not familiar with clear.of course i didn't know it came sanded or unsanded til i read this either!

That rule only stands for grout-- not caulking. You can use whatever you wish. From a technical standpoint, it doesn't really make a difference. But from an aesthetic standpoint, I'd prefer to use the sanded caulking, so it matches your grout.
