Expect to pay around 4-6K for a standard paint job that doesn't involve filling the grain. That doubles the time, and probably the price. Adding that step in could make the project cost prohibitive. Buying new cabinets completely could be in order instead of trying to remake the existing ones. And it would let you tweak the layout for better efficiency.
